Girls & Boys 1-12: Mattel Top Holiday Toys 2014
The other day I was at an appointment and there was a young man who had no kids. He said to me “Wow you’re a mom of four? I need to pick your brain on what type of toys to buy for all the children on my nice list.” Of course on my blog was a great starting point. However, I was also recently introduced to a new website built by Mattel just for the holidays, which also was a great start for his holiday shopping.
Mattel’s Top Holiday Toys 2014
Mattel has selected 28 toys that cover all the children on your list from ages 1-12, and created an online destination for these Holiday Toys at MattelHoliday.ca.
I personally think this idea is brilliant and a wonderful start to everyone’s nice list. Some of the toys on Mattel’s top 28 you may recognize from some reviews I completed over the year.
2014 Holiday Barbie™ Doll
When I was a little girl I had a ton of Barbie’s they were my go-to toy . I would dress them up and brush their hair, play make believe with them from morning to night. I don’t remember having a holiday Barbie as a little girl but when Miss C go her first Holiday Barbie 2006 from my Uncle on her first Christmas, she was the most beautiful Barbie I have ever seen. The dress was made of thick beautiful black velour with gold stitching, jewels and a white fur collar. The debate was if we should take her out and play with our preserve her beauty in the box. We decided to take her out and still today after 8 years of play her dress is just as beautiful.
Holiday Barbie 2014 is just as beautiful in her gorgeous long red gown with epic gold accents.
Hot Wheels® Super Loop Chase Race™
It is no secret that Hot Wheels are the go-to toys for our three boys. As I sit here and type the boys are playing with 50 feet of track and taking the ultimate track to a new level. Long before the blog our family took part in toy testing for a very well known Canadian parenting magazine. Our testing starts in June and we run the toys through real life situations. We still do take part in this exclusive opportunity and it is our favourite by far. This spring we received a Hot Wheels® Super Loop Chase Race™. I will be honest I was a little nervous of this track because in the past the Hot Wheel wall track have not been a hit in our house. But it is our job to give it a chance and put it through the real life test. WOW was I glad we did put it through the test, the Hot Wheels® Super Loop Chase Race™ became the boy’s favourite toy from that round. It was extremely durable and never came off the wall once during our 6 week testing period. The best thing about the Hot Wheels® Super Loop Chase Race™ is the speed, it whips the cars around so fast that the kids sit and stare at it in amazement. Since it is 3-foot tall it become wall art that is actually fun to play with.
Thomas & Friends™ TrackMaster™ Avalanche Escape Set
With a 3 year old in the house I enjoy my share of Thomas the train episodes being played daily. Each boy went through the Thomas the Train stage, there is something about trains that takes a little boys heart by surprise. We enjoyed riding on a real Thomas the train this summer and it was defiantly a highlight for the whole family. What I love about Thomas & Friends™ TrackMaster™ Avalanche Escape Set is the adrenaline that will naturally happen as Thomas must navigate a risky mountaintop track in the TrackMaster’s Avalanche Escape Set.
After charging up a steep incline, he’ll need to use his momentum to soar across a huge gap in the tracks! As Thomas careens down the mountain, he’ll also power through a rickety bridge with collapsing guardrails before he enters a spooky cave where he’ll discover a fossil! Thomas isn’t home-free just yet this nail-biting adventure will test the speed and bravery of every little boy’s best friend.
Barbie® Glam Camper™
A game of make believe with Barbie in my opinion requires a set of wheels. Why not take the fun on to road? We have a tent trailer that we pull in the summer and enjoy many road trips with. I love that the Barbie® Glam Camper™ has plenty of room for Barbie doll, her sisters and their friends to take a road trip similar to ones our family would take in real life.
This glam ride features a whole house on wheels plus the cab removes and turns into a pool, for the ultimate pool party on the road.

Barbie brings back tons of memories for me!
I remember buying a camper many years ago for my daughters, they certainly have changed! I’m sure my granddaughter would adore anything from Barbie, just as her mother did so many years ago 🙂
Definitely Barbie! I actually still collect the Holiday Barbies. 🙂

Barbie of course – I always loved playing with Barbies!
