Recently, at Blue Mountain Resort I met an older retired couple who had already visited five ski destinations this season with the Ikon Pass. Instead of snowbirding south they destination jump between the world’s best ski resorts in North America. Skiing The Best Mountains In Eastern Canada
Everyone has their favorite slopes to hit whether it be close to home or a short journey away. Recently, we experienced both of Eastern Canada’s favorite mountains on a whirlwind of a road trip with Ikon Pass and a bus full of media. Blue Mountain and Tremblant are thrilled to be part of the Ikon Pass family for the first time this season. A great benefit to us Ontarians because both are within reach for a quick jaunt.
Blue Mountain Resort, Ontario
Blue Mountain is a 90-minute drive from Toronto, making it the perfect mid-week or weekend winter getaway. Northwest of Collingwood, Blue Mountain is a self-made village lined with cobblestone roads and some of the best restaurants and a vibe unlike any around it. A popular destination for family’s, couples or a friends getaway.
Conditions were perfect when we arrived. A snow blizzard was forming, and we couldn’t think of the best place to be to at that exact moment. We arrived on a Monday which left long open slopes for us to enjoy without many others around. My advice is to skip out of work a day or two this winter, and you’ll have plenty of space to tread the powder with little to no lines. There’s nothing wrong with calling in sick after fresh powder falls. I mean don’t go posting all the fun on social media. 😉
Blue Mountain’s Woodview Mountaintop Skating Trail
If you’re feeling like a little switch in sports, Blue Mountain’s Woodview Mountaintop Skating trail is a great way to switch it up.
Enjoy a peaceful skate through the forest on the 1.1km ice skating loop. Ice skate rentals are available and including a support system for learners to push along the trail. We found it easy enough to go up the Orchard express lift and ski skate over to Woodview Mountaintop Skating lodge. It was effortless to do, and the views are breathtaking!

Mont-Tremblant Resort, Quebec
Skiing at Tremblant is a great option and easy to access ski getaway from the GTA. From our home in The City of Kawartha Lakes, we’re about 6 hours give or take. Throw on a podcast or book on CD or accept the mental break before you hit the slopes. A six-hour drive is nothing when you pit stop halfway, enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window and spend moments talking among yourselves.
As you drive up to the Laurentian Mountains, you’ll quickly forget everything on your to-do list and the only thing left to worry about it how quick you can hit the slopes.
The Refuge Du Trappeur
Skiing at Tremblant is something I’ve been blessed to do numerous times. There is something about Tremblant that grabs at my heart. The feeling of proud you absorb from the staff, locals you get a chance to chit-chat with on the way up the gondola. A must stop when you’re at Tremblant is a ski over to The Refuge Du Trappeur. It’s a tiny log cabin in the middle of Versant Soleil and the perfect pit stop to warm by the wood burning fire and enjoy spiked hot cocoa or a bowl of chili.

Final Thoughts!
Taking the Ikon Pass Media Bus Trip was an incredible experience. I met some pretty amazing people in two beautiful places here in Eastern Canada. We laughed, played hard and got in as much skiing and boarding as we possibly could. Honestly, some of the best skiing EVER! Both resorts are unique in their ways; both locations have something special to offer. With many deals and packages available at both bluemountain.ca and tremblant.ca, individuals and families can enjoy affordable vacations catered to your interests.
A huge thank you to Blue Mountain, Tremblant and Ikon Pass for this experience. And thank you to my husband for capturing all the photography on our adventure.
