Our days are busy; our nights are even more so when you toss kids and chores into the mix – free time seems impossible. But, taking time with your spouse is even more important today, than tomorrow. We’ve found the perfect romantic getaway – pure bliss in the heart of Algonquin, Ontario. The Couples Resort all-inclusive is a relaxing pressure-free getaway you needed to book ASAP!
We’ve heard of Couples Resort, and I’ve been on their site many times before, but for some reason, we came up with tons of excuses and never booked that getaway we needed. We’re too busy; the kids are too young, we need to save, business is too busy to take time off. The fact is we can come up with a million excuses why we cannot, but the truth is you need what you don’t know is missing. Time is precious and time with the love of my life alone, without responsibilities is the perfect way to stress release.
Here’s why you need to book a romantic getaway at Couples Resort in Algonquin, Ontario.
Spoiled in a Romantic Master’s Jr Suite
We stayed in the very spacious Master Suites with 10′ ceilings and 1000 sq. ft. of Victorian Luxury. Our room was grand and felt like I was stepping back in time with its beautiful antique furniture.
The feature we loved about our Master Suite was the private hot tub on our private deck. It was the first place we ran to in the morning and the last place we enjoyed before bed with a glass of wine in hand. The private hot tub is a feature that puts Couples Resort above and beyond any other romantic getaway we’ve ever been too. Come to think of it; I’ve never experienced a private hot tub anywhere else before. It was perfect!
We also had a steam shower, jacuzzi, four massaging shower heads, wood burning fireplace, in our romantic Master’s Jr Suite. Our room was so lovely we didn’t feel the need to leave; lazy days in your robe – why not?
And when your view looks this good you don’t want to leave.
First Class Dining
One thing in life that is mandatory when we travel is the food. We travel to eat, let your taste buds dance, food wins my heart repeatedly. We design any road trip we take around food. So when we booked with Couples Resort, and I saw we’d be enjoying a 5-course meal daily we were excited to experience Executive Chef, Ronnie Coppens creations.
Dining at Couples Resort has a very strict semi-formal attire; which means ties for him and dress for her. I enjoyed a reason to get all dressed up for dinner. If you happen to forget those essential details, you can always order room service for no extra charge.
Bring your own bottle to dinner. Yep, you right that right and you don’t even need to pay a corkage fee. As long as the container hasn’t been open, they will chill it and serve it tableside. BYOB is a great way to save a few dollars, and you get to take the bottle back to your room to finish later.
Five Course Meal
Since Couples Resort is all-inclusive, every night stay includes a 5-course meal. 1 amuse bouche, 2 Starter Choice’s, 1 main Entree Choice and 1 Dessert Choice. They were also very willing to work with my dairy and egg-free diet, and they happily work with vegans and celiacs as well.
Each meal starts with an amuse-bouche. A single, bite-sized hors d’œuvre. Amuse-bouches are different from appetizers; they aren’t ordered from a menu, they are served as gratis to start the meal from chef’s daily creation.
The Artisan salad was so delicious my husband had it three nights in a row. Mixed Artisan lettuce, Dried Cranberries, Cashews, Feta Cheese, Smoked Duck, Bellini Vinaigrette.
Every single course was like heaven on my plate.
Sharing delicious food over a bottle of wine; while listening to live entertainment; dressed in my finest with the love of my life is nothing short of perfection.
Since Couples Resort is a no tipping resort, you can leave your wallet in your room!
Room Service For Breakfast
Couples Resort also includes breakfast each morning. You can opt to dine in or order room service. We ordered room service twice and ate a quiet breakfast overlooking the lake in our robes. It was the perfect way to start the day.
Couples Resort All-Inclusive – Activities
We love adventure and sitting around in our room didn’t last forever. Couples Resort all-inclusive includes free uses of their bikes, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. It also consists of an Algonquin Park pass which we used and took a beautiful fall hike. Even though we visited Couples Resort in the fall, we had summer weather, and we spent many hours on Galeairy Lake paddling along the shores of Algonquin Park.
Between the paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking we spent many blissful moments breathing in nature during our stay.
We booked a horseback riding lesson with the front desk. There is an additional cost to this activity, but I highly suggest it. You couldn’t wipe the smile off my face the whole time.
There is something so soothing about a stroll on horseback through the forest. It’s so good for the soul, and it was the perfect date with my man.
Unwind At The Spa
If you love the spa as much as I do, you must book a treatment or two. I highly suggest you call in before and book your treatment as they fill quickly. I had a couple of treatments, and I was so pleased with the service. While I was getting pampered at the spa, my husband took a peaceful run through the Bear Trail; there is something for everyone at Couples Resort.
Our time at Couples Resort was just what we needed. It was a no pressure getaway that took all my worries away. We didn’t have to parent (thanks, Mom) and we felt like we were teenagers again. We reconnected, laughed, smiled, swam, got competitive over a few games of pool and dreamed. I keep using the word “no pressure” because that’s exactly how we felt during our stay. When you take the pressures out of travel – you find bliss. No tipping, food included, BYOB, free entertainment and activities, that’s how Couples Resort removed the pressure. We found bliss at Couples Resort and it was the perfect way to celebrate 15 blissful years of marriage and 21 years together.
Happy Anniversary my Love!
Since we’ve been back home I feel like a better parent because I took time to stress relief with the man I started this life with, my husband. That’s why getting away with your spouse on a kid-free getaway is important. By removing the pressure of life you can rechange for a better tomorrow.
