A Mother’s Intuition!

A Mother’s Intuition!

Since the moment you first found out you were pregnant, your Mother intuition kicks in. You line your shower with slip proof mats. You stop drinking herbal teas, eating lunch meat; sushi is no longer your occasional craving. You cut down on coffee, eat more vegetables, drink more water and read every book, and website that will support your desire to keep your unborn baby safe.

Safe – to protected from or not exposed to danger or risk; not likely to be harmed or lost.

He comes out perfect more than you could ever have imagined. To you, he is your world, he grabs your heart like it’s never been grabbed before. You swaddle him tightly, wrapping him in baby bubble wrap because your Mother intuition knows that no matter what, this gift is yours to protect, forever!

You buy the best car seats and waiting till the exact pound is achieved before graduating them on to the next stage. You place them in the safe playpen while you crawl around at baby level, baby proofing your home, to keep your child safe.

You add baby gates, cupboard locks, and door handle locks, you repeat “hot” when you are cooking dinner. All these things your Mother intuition knows will keep your child safe.

Mother’s intuition – An immediate unreasoned understanding that a mother has toward something regarding the well-being of her child.

Hand and hand you walk through your neighbourhood. Always keeping your child on the inside of the shoulder and repeating the words “Don’t go on the road. Keep away from moving cars.”

Hand in Hand

You scold them with a dark tone of voice when they step a little too close to the road. Because you love them, you’ve worked so hard to teach them, you cannot imagine your world without them, and it is your job to keep them safe.

You’ve been home with them since the day they were born, and although they are ready and excited about heading off to kindergarten, you are scared. You are scared because you’ve always been there too keep them safe. You’ve always been there to wipe their tears, you’ve always been there to hold their hand.

The First Stranger I Trusted With My Children

The first strangers I trusted with our children was their teachers. You trust that the Ontario Government has rules and regulations in place to keep your child safe. You trust that they will not put dollar signs besides your child’s name, yet they place humanity there in knowing that a parent is trusting you keep this child safe.

We were very lucky that the teachers, principal, and staff within our children’s school have given a warm and loving home to our children while they are at school. Those women and men have gained my trust time and time again. They are mothers, fathers, grandparents that will wipe my child’s tears when they fall and hold their hand when I cannot not.

These teachers had been my rock when I walked away crying after dropping my last child off at Kindergarten.

When My Mother Intuition Wasn’t Respected!

My problem doesn’t lay with the school; my problem lies with the bureaucracy behind the closed doors of the school board. The staff (as they call themselves) whose never wiped my child’s tears, who’s never felt the warmth from my child’s heart.

Child with huge heart

First hand, I know these staff place policies and budgets over the heads of each child in their school board. These staffs, put dollar signs besides your child’s name and mine.

These staffs, have stolen all four of my children’s smiles and excitement about getting on the school bus.

These staffs, have turned which once was a happy place, into fear for my daughter who was nearly hit crossing off the school bus. I was the one who held her shaking body and wiped her sobbing tears because she believes she almost died that day.

“That moment, should never have happened because my Motherly intuition already told those staff members at TLDSB numerous times, that was an unsafe bus stop.”

We’ve been professional and gone to more than 12 different staff between Trillium Lakelands District School Board, City of Kawartha Lakes. Our delegation application to speak to the Trillium Lakelands District School Board as a whole was declined. We have gone through every loop and person there is to go through and some twice.

The bus driver, supply bus driver, the police all have written and called in complaints about this bus stop. They all have honked horns and throw on sirens once the stop arm was out because cars were not stopping. We have letters and documents proving this is an unsafe place for vehicles to stop.

I continued to be declined the motherly right to keep my children safe. My Mother Intuition is not being respected by TLDSB.

I’ve been driving our four children to school since August, yet for six years we safety walked our children down the road to a safe bus stop.

I shouldn’t have to drive my children for ten more years because for six years my kids were given the rights they deserve, a safe bus stop to use daily.

This is what our high taxes pay for; this is what each child in the education system deserves and is entitled to receive. It all comes down to the safety of the children and TLDSB has lost my faith that they are following their motto:

“Students are the focus of our system”

~ Make a safe and positive environment for students.

Consider students’ needs in all decisions. ~

My Mother Intuition knows this bus stop is not safe for our little children loading into or out of. This picture was taken December 2015, at the exact spot the school bus stops and opens its doors for my kids.

December 2015 Car in ditch at bus stop

I thank God we weren’t standing there when that car lost control. This S-bend is known to be unsafe to every local in our neighbourhood.

My Mother’s intuition is telling me to continue to fight for the safety of our children just as I have been doing since the moment I knew I was going to be a Mother.

Motherly intuition

Together we need to stand and fight for our children’s rights. These could be your children standing at an unsafe bus stop.

I cannot repeat the same process and expect different results. This is why I am asking you to share, comment on the YouTube video and you can help me, help my little children.

Thank you for reading In R Dream!

  • Wow! That really would worry me as well.. You shouldn’t HAVE to be so concerned about your kids just getting to school safely – there is really something wrong with the picture here 🙁 Hopefully they will do something to rectify it!

  • It is sad to think that it will take a tragedy to make change happen, and afterwards it will be a game of passing the blame!!
How could anyone put a price on a childs life?? It is good that most kids have caring parents who realize this danger but
the sad fact is not all children have that and probaly get on and off themselves everyday! Plus teens think they are invincible and are distracted easily! Hopefully someone that makes these decision will wake-up before someone innocent pays the price because of some guy behind a desk’s ignorance!!

  • It is amazing how money is more important than a childs saftey in this time and age. Things would be differant if there was a goverment worker in the neighbourhood with children.

  • This makes no sense,is there no common sense and understanding the folks who think this is safe.I have shared your story on many social pages i hope this problem get solved before some child gets hurt !

  • I wish the powers that be were more prone to common sense and understanding… that they would trust parental intuition and realise that sometimes there is a very practical side to our requests. I hope they move the stop for you BEFORE a tragedy occurs. What a ridiculous change… and process to revert to something safer.

  • wow, what a terrible situation! I hope something gets resolved with it soon! I drove my daughter when weather was bad but we usually walked, there is a park zone that NOBODY obeyed the speed limit in, plus no sidewalk..we were almost hit so many times! No amount of complaining or reporting has helped..my daughter now walks with her friend to middle school, 2km walk one way.. I worry everyday for their safety!

  • WOW! What a wrong situation these kids are put in. Do you have a local on-line new site? I would be asking them to come down to the bus stop a few days in a row & do an interview with them!

  • The pictures with the arrows/diagrams is truly terrifying. There needs to be more parents advocating for the safety of children.

  • Wow that is scary stuff 🙁 Our school board it the same way here cutting out the number of stops and having little kids walk along the side of a busy highway to get to their bus stop rather than picking them up at their driveways. 🙁

  • Call the police everyday to have them present with lights flashing 100 metres from the bus stop on all the roads near this stop. Essentially putting all traffic to a stand still. It is required of police to protect its citizens, so call them out on it. Get noticed by attending school board meetings with all other parents who have children using that bus stop. If push comes to shove when the school bus is approaching the stop have a few parents with their cars block all traffic until the kids are safe.

  • I am not a helicopter mom but I have a sixth sense when it comes to my kids. I would be so devastated if something bad ever happened to them.

  • Unfortunatly the only time things like this change is when someone is hurt or worse. Good luck. My hubby always wanted to live in the country but I would never put my kids on a bus. So I can watch or walk with them.
