Being Local For The Day! Best Western Belleville Review #BayOfQuinte

On our travels to the Bay of Quinte recently, we thought why not make this one day road trip a two day adventure? We were lucky to secure an overnight stay at the beautiful Best Western Belleville on North Front Street. When we arrived the parking lot was very busy and tight to maneuver.  Quickly, we learnt that there was a hockey tournament in town and they were completely sold out. I was feeling very lucky to have snagged up one of the last available rooms for that night.

Typically, for the size of our family we tend to look for suites, so the kids can have kid space. Although sometimes the last minute adventures are the best trips you can take. When you snag the last room in a hotel, or when you have to squeeze in a single room hotel with 2 beds and enjoy the sweet giggles at bedtime. Alright, sometimes those giggles are screams of “he pinched me” but it happens to us all.

Squeaky Clean!

What I liked most about Best Western Belleville was that it was spotless and squeaky clean! I will admit I am a little bit of a germaphobe – a person with an extreme fear of germs and an obsession with cleanliness.

When travelling I tend to look for the newer hotels and avoid motels like the plague. When I noticed that the cleaning staff uses Mr. Clean Magic Erasers to clean, I felt confident about our stay. Because they weren’t afraid of putting a little elbow grease into it.

Warm Pool

When travelling with children you know the importance of the hotel you’re staying at to have a pool. Not only did we have the whole pool to ourselves at Best Western Belleville, it was super warm, clean and didn’t reek of chlorine. There were balls and floating tubes for the kids to play with, plus this big window brought in a lot of light.

Complimentary Breakfast

Another must we tend to look for when travelling with our kids is a hotel that serves up complimentary breakfast. We weren’t sure when to tackle breakfast that morning having known the hotel was sold out due to a hockey tournament. We ventured down about 7:30am and there was not a seat to sit at. We tag teamed and each grabbed a couple plates. I was shocked that the staff could keep up with the demands for all the hungry kids. The food was fully stocked and the counters were cleaned. I wish I had a moment to capture a picture of breakfast because although it was busy, the staff at Best Western Belleville kept it under control and with a smile. We found seats between a few tables and the kids had 2 plates each, which was a great start to the day. For me, my eats were limited since I cannot consume dairy or eggs. I do hope the Best Western chain takes food sensitivities into consideration and has dairy free options in the future.

Burger Revolution ROCKS!

We are huge foodies and one of the highlights when travelling for us is experiencing the local food. I tend to avoid big chain restaurants when travelling because I know there is a hidden gem in just about every town. Thanks to Tripadvisor we found a gem that left us craving more and was only a couple minutes from Best Western Belleville… Burger Revolution!

Burger Revolution Review Belleville

Burger Revolution supports local farmers and as you can see from the picture above they fill between their homemade pretzel buns with only local and fresh ingredients. Plus, their burgers are made without eggs, which had me doing the happy dance! If all that is not enough, the kids menu is $5 which also includes a juice box = Score! We fed our whole family of six for under $60 including drinks. So much flavour in each bite, Burger Rev has left me dreaming of them opening a store in Kawartha Lakes so I don’t have to go without! Thanks Burger Revolution for doing it right!

Belleville Waterfront

When travelling we like to learn as much as we can about the city or town we are in. We explore the local parks and take in the local food. I cannot get enough of being a tourist. When in Belleville we headed to the waterfront and strolled along the trail. It was filled with nature, Swans, Ducks and Turtles to name a few. We were in no rush, we took our time and walked with the locals and fell in love with the beauty of nature around us in Bay of Quinte.

Best Western Hotel in Belleville review

“We will definitely keep Best Western Belleville in our back pocket for our next trip to Belleville, Ontario. Clean rooms and most importantly clean sheets. Breakfast was well stocked, wait staff kept up on top of it all. The warm pool was a hit with the whole family. Because Best Western Belleville was there for us, we had the chance to be local for the day.”

What do you look for in a hotel?
