In the spring many of us think about spring cleaning our home but not often enough do we think about spring cleaning our bodies. Our family of six has been spring cleaning our bodies in a sense for over 8 months now. It’s been very life changing for the better for all of us. At one of my recent Nutritionist appointment she suggested I Liver Detox as part of my gut healing process. Which was something I never have done before.
What is the Liver?
A large, reddish-brown, glandular organ located in the upper right side of the abdominal cavity, divided by fissures into five lobes and functioning in the secretion of bile and various metabolic processes.
Why Liver Detox?
Your liver is one of the most important organs in our bodies. It filters and cleans out everything your body is exposed to such as food, drugs, alcohol, and pollution. In today’s world our liver is working overtime and can use some TLC.
Ancient Detoxification Process
Being a stay at home mom of four my Nutritionist had my debit card in mind and gave me a Home Economist tip to detoxify my liver. This ancient process can do much more than detox the liver, its healing powers had me very interested. Even though I was hesitate at first when she explained the Castor Oil Pack Detoxification process because as moms we all know finding an hour to yourself is extremely hard to do. Even harder when you have wrapped yourself in flannel soaked in castor oil, plastic wrap, heat, a blanket on your back with your feet in the air. And of course once you get comfortable the house will cave in and you will be screaming at the top of your lungs….*breathe.
I gave it a try. I booked an hour with my incredibly hands on husband that I was going to secretly sneak away into our bedroom to read and give this ancient process a try. I will be honest the setup took a while but once I was vertical I was so peaceful and warm. I felt fantastic.
The problem was I needed to carve out an hour three times a week for this Castor Oil Pack Detoxification process to take the full effect. Plus the feeling of Zen I got afterwards meant this was something that would be most beneficial before bed and that seemed impossible with my schedule.
