Always Ending Up In The Mud! + #PGmom Giveaway

Spring has sprung and that means the kids are always ending up in the mud! Have you heard the country song “Mud” from The Road Hammers?

Back In The Old Days

It actually takes me back to our teen years when hubby and I did a lot of off-roading in his Blazer. Each weekend we were playing in the mud getting stuck and we were having a whole lot of fun. It was almost a code of honour driving around with mud from the weekend on our off-road SUV. Then there was us as young adults when we bought our first ATV and we were always the first ones through the new untouched mud puddles with our 4-wheeler.

"MUD" THE ROAD HAMMERS, Getting MUd out of your clothes. Yes that is me driving above and hubby pointing me to the bigger mud puddle to my right.

"MUD" THE ROAD HAMMERS, Getting MUd out of your clothes.
My girlfriend and I (please don’t kill me Les) were wearing mud as shoes it seems.

You know what? I would still hop on our ATV and ride through the biggest mud puddle I could find if given the chance. My love for big chunky off-road trucks hasn’t changed either. But what has changed is today I am mother of four and I do all the laundry.

Always ending up in the mud. Removing mud from clothes. Mud and kids
Although we loved getting muddy back in the good old days and listening to the The Road Hammers new single “Mud” does put a remember when smile on my face. You see today I cringe when I see muddy boots, shoes or pants walk into my door. As I am writing this I can clearly admit maybe I have a problem that I need to admit to and suck up my thought of extra work when the kids are running through the mud and let them be kids! Just as I was…as a child, teen and young adult when we were spraying mud up our backs.

Always ending up in the mud. Removing mud from clothes. Mud and kids Because we all know when spring arrives “Well we always end up in the mud!”

  • Mud is there for many reasons – one of them to play in! As a child my mother didn’t care about us playing with mud, it was great! Being a mom myself, I remember the first time my child walked through the door dripping mud. She had a look on her face that said she was scared and unsure of what my reaction would be. Well, my reaction was to take her by the hand, head back out and play in the mud with her!

  • It looks like you had a lot of fun and great remember when stories πŸ™‚ I love the pics! My LO is only 6 months old so I haven’t yet washed the muddy jeans or inside out crusted socks but I do know it soon will come and I too will have to let go of my laundry ocd and let him be a kid! Wonderful article and prize pack πŸ™‚ Thank-you Thank-you!

  • I might have one of the only 7 year old boys in the universe who hates getting dirty. He will go through 3/4 outfits a day to keep clean, I on the other hand love getting dirty, its either a sign of fun or hardwork, wither way is a win.

  • I get muddy dog foot prints that are what they are! It cleans up…right? I will be happy when it gets warm though and grass/flowers grow!

  • I remember going behind a friends house when we were kids, into a huge field just full of mud. We got deeper in and thought it was so fun being in our rainboots. Eventually we were stuck and the mud was up to the top of our boots! There was nothign we could do except step out of the boots and make our way back to her house in our socks…. it was a huge mess!

  • we have a pretty big back yard and kids are always getting muddy and bringing all that mud inside. Must say I don’t enjoy washing their muddy clothing

  • I never minded when the kids got muddy, i have memories of blissfully playing in mud, jumping, throwing, building mudpies or just making canals in mud and water and floating leaves or whatever in it! So was happy to see my kids playing and having fun in mud! They are washable as are their clothes, but the memories and fun are priceless!

  • nah I prob played in the mud more as a kid then my two kids ever did!! and my pets are pretty good about keeping clean as well

  • Hubby and I love to go dirt biking. The muddier, the better! I don’t mind when my DD gets muddy when she’s outside playing.

  • The muddiest had to be at camp. We were to go into a muddy marsh, up to our waists. When I took a few steps, my boots were stuck to the bottom and came off my feet. Needless to say, to be gone forever! I know, sounds like boot camp, huh? lol

  • I have never minded my son getting muddy and having fun. I just put him in his “play clothes” and let him enjoy!

  • I hated mud–always have, even as a kid. I was the kind of mother that cringed when the kids get dirty. But now, I’m a grandma, and with my little granddaughter in tow, look out puddles, here we come! :o)

  • i dont mind at all when the kids get muddy and have fun getting dirty ..so long as i have tide in the house to save the clothes

  • When my boys are dressed to get muddy, I’m fine with it. When they have their regular shoes and good clothes on, hell NO!

  • Don’t mind when my toddler gets muddy in fact I join him in the mud. I remember during a hurricane /tornado warnings in the 80’s my little sister and I put on bathing suits and went outside and flew in the wind hanging on to the stop sign pole , we were muddy like crazy after that , mom was not impressed to see us outside in the danger when she got home ,step dad got in crap for that not watching us lol

  • I’m a new visitor to your blog and I love your “Mud” stories and your style of writing. I have 2 small dogs that are a never ending source of mud so this would be a great win for me. Thanks for the chance!

  • I don’t mind when the kids get muddy because it means they’re out and having fun and not inside on the video games πŸ™‚

  • It depends on what we are doing, or where we are going. I don’t like when the kids jump in the puddles on the way somewhere, but if we are on the way back home I say go for it because its just mud and they can have a bath when we get home.

  • I dont mind if my daughter gets muddy or wants to play in it…just note to self…make sure she is not wearing white before all that goes down lol

  • My son was actually muddy yesterday! We are just about to put sod in the back yard, so it’s dusty and he was playing in some water I gave him and making mud! Clearly I don’t mind him playing in it!!

  • I like watching the kids get muddy, but I cringe thinking about the washing involved to get the clothes clean. Prefer mud in bathing suits.

  • When the weather started getting warmer out, the snow began melting leaving giant puddles of mud everywhere. I went to get my son from the busstop, and when he trotted off of the bus (hes 4), he had the biggest smile I’d ever seen. So proud, so happy! Then I saw the rest of him, covered in thick gooey mud. Apparently he had been standing in line waiting for the bus at school, and there was a mud muddle there. He jumped in it and began ‘squishing’ it in his boots. His boot got stuck, and he fell over in it.

  • MY SON JUMPED IN THE MUD ON HIS FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL AND COVERED THE TEACHER HIMSELF AND ALL HIS NEW SCHOOL STUFF

  • I have mixed emotions on this. I allow mud play on days when prepared its inevitable with 2 boys anyway but annoyed when not prepared.

  • Kids have a right to play, to get dirty, to get muddy if they want! But when they track it all through the house along with dead grass I am somewhat annoyed! As long as they keep their mess outside it’s alright by me.

  • My muddy moment was as a child, driving my wheelchair through a muddy forest, then tracking it through the house. My poor mom! lol

  • really dont mind when the kids get muddy, sometimes I even encourage it lol. Its all just a part of growing up!

  • I don’t mind at all when kids get muddy. Those are fun & fond memories being created…they will look back and remember those days with a smile.

  • Yesterday it was raining and my 5 year old decided to SIT in a muddy puddle. I know stomping seems normal, but sit! Bath time came next.

  • I dont’ mind when the kids get muddy as long as they don’t go running through our carpets. I think getting muddy is all part of having fun and being kids

  • My two boys were always in the mud, but at least they were outside having fun. Sometimes I had to take their pants off at the door so it wouldn’t get tracked in.

  • I don’t mind kids in the mud, after all how long can they enjoy doing it before life sets in, may as well have fun when mud is your only worry!

  • I don’t have an HE washing machine, so I’m glad to know that this product can also be used in standard washing machines. I’ve recently seen the TV commercial for this product; it is great that this product maximizes the energy and water savings for those that to use HE machines. I wonder if this product also promises 6x the cleaning power if used in a regular machine?

  • I don’t mind when my kids get muddy but I mind when my house gets muddy. Sometimes the dogs play in the mud with the kids and somebody forgets to clean the dogs paws.

  • I really dislike it when my kids get muddy. Every once in a while I bite my tongue. Poor things πŸ™‚

I assure them that when they start doing the laundry, they can roll in mud puddles if they want.

  • I do have a cat who is somewhat obsessed with dirt and mud and rolling in it. She insists on bringing indoors and heading straight to the bed….yuck! Thanks for the giveaway!

  • i expect the kids will get dirty and try to keep any expectations of a clean house or clean kids low. very very low. every season i feel like i need to adjust to the new mess it brings.

  • I don’t mind if my kids get muddy as long as they are having fun and they take their grubby clothes and footwear off in the mud room!

  • No, I don’t mind my kids getting muddy. I remember having fun in the mud when I was a kid and know they enjoy it

  • I don’t mind anyone getting muddy, as long as the mess doesn’t come inside. Rule is strip off the muddy clothes before coming in and into the shower πŸ™‚

  • Honestly I used to be much more uptight about mud, hated it tracked all over the house but I learned to not let it bother me, one day the kids will be too old to enjoy the mud so learn to enjoy it now before its gone.

  • For our family it is not the kids that always come in muddy, IT IS THE DOGS!! our giant lab loves to roll in any muddy puddle of water anywhere. Especially on walks. They come in covered in mud and dirty everything in the house, including me!

  • I don’t mind muddy. We had a huge pile of dirt in out backyard for our son to play with his Hot wheels.

  • As a child I remember one occasion when my brother and I went “swimming” in a swamp. We were so dirty we had to ride home in the back of the truck!

  • When my girls were younger they were always muddy or dirty, living in the country they had fun on their go-carts!!

  • Our dog loves, loves getting muddy and then bringing all the mud back into the house… it’s always a made scramble to clean her up

  • One of my grandsons always heads straight for the mud, we had to strip him before he got into the car on Saturday!

  • I don’t mind when the children get all muddy… providing we aren’t going anywhere or have no huge plans for the day.
