Harvest Party at Rolling Grape Vineyard in The Kawarthas
This month we celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary and 23 years together! We’ve done many dates over the years, from biking, skiing, road tripping, dining, we know the importance of carving out time to celebrate “US” even in the middle of chaos parenting, running a business brings. Sometimes date night is a simple evening at home, snuggled on the couch with our favorite sushi take-out. This month we booked an Authentic Adventure in Peterborough & the Kawarthas at the Harvest Party at Rolling Grape Vineyard, something we’ve always wanted to do!
From Grape to Glass: Harvest Party at Rolling Grape Vineyard
We don’t live in Peterborough and The Kawarthas, but we neighbor the border, living in The City of Kawartha Lakes. I like to keep up on what’s happening nearby, and when I saw the new vineyard Rolling Grape was hosting a harvest party, I knew it was the perfect afternoon date with my man! “Thanks. mom for watching the kids!”
What to expect at a Grape to Glass Harvest Party.
We had no idea what to expect during the Harvest Party. Were we going to be put to “hard work” picking loads of grapes? Or was the experience more casual? How do you dress? Here’s the download on what to expect at a Grape to Glass Harvest Party:
What to wear?
I guess this depends on how much you plan on picking? There were women in heels who were not planning on picking a single bunch of grapes. Since we planned on actually putting in some hard labor, we wore jeans, plaid, and I wore my cowboy boots. I brought an extra shirt to toss on after I worked a sweat in the field. Bring gardening gloves if you wish, I’d suggest a hat and rubber boots if you don’t have cowboy boots, the grounds are mucky. Honestly, I worried too much about what to wear prior, and when we arrived, there were all types of people wearing all kinds of outfits. Dress how you plan on experiencing the day! There is no judgment; the experience is yours!
Do you have to pick grapes?
Nope, you can make the experience as you wish. We did plan on picking, learning, and wandering the fields. It’s as much work as you make it. Honestly, it wasn’t working at all. We brought a bottle of wine into the field with a couple of glasses, and before we knew it, we picked three buckets of grapes, took a bunch of photos, and make some pretty fun memories together. We may be worked a total of 45 minutes.
Is food included?
During the Harvest Party at Rolling Grape vineyard, they had Sir Sanford Fleming Culinary Class on-site serving up appetizers and cooking a full pig roast for guests.
Is wine included?
One welcome glass is served to each guest. After that, I suggest sharing a bottle with your partner. Our bottle went down smoothly under the beautiful fall sunshine.
My biggest advice…
My biggest advice is to mingle. We arrived together on our afternoon date keeping to ourselves, that’s our shy nature. By the end, we ended up mingling with a mom and daughter duo who shared their table with us and met a couple of local gals. By the end, we were celebrating, cheering, and our new friend treated us to BRÜMATE wine glasses, and we’ve been chatting online since! Thanks, Jenna!
“I would definitely do this again. We had a great time together, enjoying a few glasses of wine, a new experience harvesting grapes, making new friends in the beautiful countryside of The Kawarthas. My only regret is not bring home more bottles of Rolling Grapes Rebel Red! I guess we got to go back for a Taste Flight and grab another bottle. Cheers!”
