You’ll never be bored: Family fun at Smugglers’ Notch Vermont
The most asked question I got from everyone when I mentioned we just got back from Smugglers’ Notch Resort during our summer holidays is – what can you do at a ski resort in the summertime?
Where do I start? There is so much summertime family fun at Smugglers’ Notch Vermont you’ll need more than a week to cover it all off.
Here are a few tidbits that the Smuggs Summer FamilyFest Vacation Package includes:
Water Fun for Everyone
With eight heated pools, four waterslides, two hot tubes (plus, a hot tub in each Kestrels unit) and two freshwater swimming reservoirs – there is plenty of locations to cool down, relax with a good book and laugh a little.
Summertime Itinerary For Families, Adults, Teens, and Kids
From Monday to Saturday Smuggs has a jammed pack itinerary with free entertainment and of course activities with an extra fee. But you can keep just as busy without breaking open your wallet. The schedules are consistent throughout the summer, which makes planning your summer vacation simple.
Vermont Country Fair = Guaranteed Family fun at Smugglers’ Notch
We came in on a Thursday which is always the Vermont Country Fair – this free event is an excellent opener for the start of a great family vacation and includes a long, incredible firework show in front of Morse Mountain to cap-off the evening.
26,000 Square Foot Indoor Playground
Included in your FamilyFest package is an entry into the FunZone 2.0 – 26,000 square foot indoor playground for adults and kids. The arcade on the first-floor require additional funds, but the upstairs is included. FunZone 2.0 is perfect for a rainy day or to let our steam before bedtime. We love the laser tag located on the first floor. Tip: After 8 pm on Friday and Saturday night you’ll receive 50% off laser tag for each person who plays. Not a bad price to work off your daily Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (located in Smuggs village).
Life-Sized Games
If that’s not enough Smuggs has life-sized foosball, chess board, billiards game. We stumbled on the life-sized foosball game one evening and laugh deep down belly laughs playing under the moonlit sky.
Other Ways to Enjoy Family Fun at Smugglers’ Notch Vermont
The Village Recreation Area has a volleyball court, basketball, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. If you still find yourself looking for something else to do Smuggs offers up STEM activities for kids. Make a roller coaster, water rocket and more all included with your FamilyFest package. You can take guided hikes, self-guided hikes, meditate, practice yoga, the options are endless, and you’re surrounded by the most stunning backdrop no matter what you choose.
Also included in your FamilyFest package is kids summer camp; I wrote a post all about Smugglers’ Notch Summer Camp here.
These Activities Are Worth The Additional Fees
Rent Mountain Bikes for Family fun at Smugglers’ Notch
You have to experience Smuggs by renting full-suspension Mountain bikes. I mean everyone should experience the feel of riding a brand-new $2000 bike down a real mountain, right? Now if you’ve been following along you know by now we love mountain biking, we’ve been numerous times. Unfortunately, this time I’m nursing an ankle injury and couldn’t join my family on the thrill of riding down the mountain.
That doesn’t mean I didn’t rent a mountain bike; I’d never forgiven myself if I missed out on all the fun. Smuggs has a Mountain bike skills park with a magic carpet that takes you up a tiny portion of the mountain. You can ride down a dirt course with S-shaped and hair-pin tracks, something for all levels. The first time was a little nerve-racking, but my fifth time you’re naturally trying to pick up speed and air going down and the kids loved it they could easily spend half a day here playing around – you could too – trust me.
If this is your first-time mountain biking no problem – book a guided mountain bike tour and bike lesson. The staff at Smuggs, is very helpful and they have a passion for everything they do, they are highly trained and professional. Brandon helped set us up on our bikes and made the rental process as smooth as possible. Note: The only tidbit I have to share is the chair lifts do not run during the summer months. To ride down the mountain, you must find a way up or walk up to them. Good thing Full Suspension bikes are light.
Try Disc Golf
Yes, Smugglers’ Notch Vermont has a world championship disc golf course – say what? Rated as one of the top 5 disc golf destinations in the world, Smuggs Outdoor Center & Pro Shop is designed for all ages and ability levels.
I know it’s not quite hit Ontario, Canada as it has in the USA, but it’s fastly sweeping its way North. And I can see why. Located deep into the woods you’re surrounded by nature with a frisbee in your hand. Talk about taking your hike in the wilderness up a notch. Much like golf, you have a target and par to meet, but you’re hugged by nature.
Smuggs offers up private or group lessons for newbies as well you can buy or rent a disc. This sport is catching on, and my family can see why. I highly recommend you book a lesson they will cover off the rules of the game and give you tips on how to throw your disc. Just like golf clubs, discs come in many different weights, thicknesses there are lots to learn. Our kids have already put a request in for discs and there very own backyard course. Maybe our four acres will come in handy?
I feel like I’ve barely touched on Summertime fun at Smugglers’ Notch Vermont, they are the King’s of FUN. So much fun you’ll need more than a week to take it all in. Hurry they have a great deal on before summer ends. Did I mention Vermont borders Canada?
Every corner speaks to your soul and reminds you just how incredible this beautiful Earth we live on is.
Also included in your FamilyFest package is Smuggs kids camp read here.
