I’ve been craving a Caribbean trip since our last one right before getting pregnant with our oldest over ten years ago. When we booked this trip, I had no idea I would find the Caribbean trip I’ve been craving in Daytona Beach, Florida.

I was craving the warm sand, windblown beach hair, mindful days of listening to the waves. The beach tunes that without thought, have you adding a smooth move to your hips and bounce to your step. I was craving late-night dinners overlooking the ocean, fancy drinks with umbrella straws, and meeting new people from all over the world.

We found all that and more at The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach.

The Shores Resort and Spa is the only AAA Four-Diamond luxury beachfront hotel in Daytona Beach. Exceptional customer service and luxury resort amenities you look forward to when you head to a southern island. All this right in the heart of Daytona Beach where the sport of NASCAR still lives.

We didn’t have to catch a flight to a faraway Caribbean island because we had the luxurious resort feeling we craved at The Shores Resort and Spa in Florida.

Big rooms are mandatory for our big family when we travel. The Shores Resort and Spa provided us with two connecting rooms. One king-size oceanfront room that connects to a double oceanfront room that also had a pull-out. There was no kitchenette, but a handy mini-fridge helped us keep within our dining budget.

Tip: Buy quickly to eat breakfast items such as cereal and almond milk, fruit platters, and bagels to enjoy in your room.

The bathrooms are lined with marble, and each corner is completed with perfection. When we weren’t out Dancing in the ocean, we were sitting on our ocean view deck soaking in the warm sunshine and this incredible view!

There is something about traveling that allows your mind to put aside all its worries and fully be present with those you love. 

Many moments during our stay at The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach, where I could have pinched myself because it felt like a dream.

The Shores Resort & Spa has entertainment coordinators organizing games and fun on the Oceanside sundeck throughout the week. We took part in playing jumbo Yahtzee, and the kids had a blast in the kiddie pool.

We spent mindful moments on the Oceanside sundeck, swimming in the outdoor saltwater swimming pool. Enjoyed fancy umbrella drinks from the Tiki Bar while we looked over the gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Renting bikes, surfboards, paddleboards, and beachfront cabanas for lazy days on the Oceanside deck are all opinions to add to your entertainment.

When the sun goes down beachside fire cauldrons and beachfront fire pits get lit. The kids loved the S’Mores kit that can be purchased from the gift shop.

AZURE Restaurant

Food and travel are the perfect marriage. I travel to eat and explore different cuisines that make my taste buds dance. AZURE is a fine dining restaurant that presents ocean-inspired cuisine. AZURE has excellent options to dine, looking over the Oceanside sundeck and the Atlantic Ocean. You could taste that each dish was created with Love. I’d have to say the Crispy Calamari – Cilantro, Mint, Palm Sugar Candied Cashews, Old Key West Sour & Sambal Aioli was heavenly! Everything was cooked and presented with perfection to our table.

Typically back home we would get a babysitter when we fine dine. Since food is a massive part of our traveling experience, the kids get to join us in the adventure of fine dining when on the road.

AZURE children’s menus blew us away. Portion sizes of the AZURE kids menu were huge. This is something we appreciate since our children love to eat and have enormous appetites for healthy fresh foods.

For $6 US, our son had a whole chicken breast, cheesy noodles and a handful of asparagus. For once, he was satisfied when he walked out of a restaurant.
