Kids Homemade Probiotic Ice Tea & Crafting Fall Table Mats #oNatural
Thankful For Nature
Since October is the month of the Canadian Thanksgiving I deem the whole month of October to be the month to count your blessings. As I sit here and type the beautiful maple tree to my right out my front window is losing it’s beautiful bright yellow, orange and red leaves, reminding me that nature is beautiful and something we all should be thankful for.
I spent the whole morning outside with my boys on this sunny fall day picking up leaves to bring home to make a fall craft. It was always my dream to be the ‘Martha Stewart’ stay at home mom but I have learnt to accept I am just not that crafty of a mom but my presences is still home with my kids. However this craft we did today was one that my mother-in-law shared with me that I knew I had to do with the kids.
Homemade Fall Table Mats
This is a prefect opportunity to appreciate all that nature offers this time of year. Plus a chance to dust off the iron board and iron.
- Step 1: Collect leaves from your neighbourhood.
- Step 2: This step is easier done on the iron board. Be sure to keep the hot iron away from the kids. Line the leaves out on a piece of wax paper (wax side up). The size of wax paper you use will depend on the size of picture or table mat you want.
- Step 3: Top your picture with another piece of wax paper (wax side down this time).
- Step 4: Starting from one corner pressing down start to iron the wax paper. Be slow and gentle so the leaves don’t push out.
Once you have completed ironing the whole picture, trim up the edges and your new fall table mats are done.
I personally believe that gratitude goes hand in hand with great health. In combination with clean eating a rainbow of fruits and veggies, taking your vitamins daily, being mindful in the moment and enjoying nature. Today my boys and I spent a wonderful morning making memories and chasing leaves. This afternoon I feel on top of the world and they are happily playing.
Homemade Afternoon Tea with Kids Probiotics
After school each day I have a freshly brewed caffeine-free herbal ice tea waiting for the kids when they walk in the door. Yes, I am so blessed to be home when they get off the bus, it is another privilege that I am so grateful for.
For each glass of freshly brewed caffeine-free herbal ice tea ( I use Celestial Fruit Samplers) has 1/4 tsp of Orange Naturals Kids Probiotic Power for toddlers through teens, a couple tsp of Stevia and is topped with ice. The kids have no clue it is laced with healthy vitamins and that is a secret they will never know. For now they are thrilled to enjoy their big glass of ‘mommy’s herbal tea’ after school. Not only are they getting the kids probiotics they need to keep those nasty flu bugs away, they also get a chance to calm the mind and refocus after a long day at school.

This is a fun craft project! Your children’s creations are beautiful. I love your idea for probiotics ice tea using orange naturals…I will try this recipe because usually only way that I have probiotics in my daily meals is through my yoghurt dishes.
LOVE the place-mats!! My girls would love it if we made some too! Thanks so much for the Homemade Afternoon Tea with Kids Probiotics recipe!! Gabrielle has been asking me to make her tea! 🙂
I really like the idea of putting the probiotics in the tea. Might just have to try that for me since I have been trying to find ways to get more probiotic in my diet.
