Birdies In My Nest

If you asked me a month ago about my thoughts of sending my children to over night summer camp, I would have said no way could I do that. I am a bit of a helicopter mom and when my children venture outside of my nest, I get a wee bit lost. This mama bird likes to have all 4 of my little birdies nice and close to home. I always knew it would be an option once they got a bit older but 7 and under the thought never entered my mind. Until we went to Ontario Pioneer Camp a few weeks ago. 

Different Life Style

If you have been following me on inRdream.com you would have read a few times that I never went to summer camp as a child. From my research and a few expo’s I knew it would be great for children whose parents worked in the summer, who may live in the city and not have nature at their finger tips. And whose children are far older than ours.

I am home with my children, we live in the country on 4 acres and nature is always were we gravitate. So I never thought it was something we needed to rush into. Until we went to Ontario Pioneer Camp a few weeks ago.

Debunking

Let’s put my myths to rest. After enjoying a weekend at Ontario Pioneer Camp with my family ( highlights here), my birdies will be leaving my nest for a week at camp far sooner than I ever thought. Why? Ontario Pioneer Camp staff care. The staff love children. The staff made all my worries drift away. The staff have a huge pride and ownership towards Ontario Pioneer Camp. The staff left me wanting to know more about them. The staff get down to the children’s level and really connect. The staff greeted us all with open arms. Unbelievable protocols are in place at Ontario Pioneer Camp to assure parents that their most precious gifts are safe and well looked after. 2-1 ration on younger children ( which is better than my rations at home. ) We left Ontario Pioneer Camp with a huge amount of respect and trust in their staff and environment. Did you know they hand-pick leaders from across the world. The staff at Ontario Pioneer Camp ROCK!

The 2nd myth of mine I would like to lye to rest, no matter your lifestyle Ontario Pioneer Camp is right for your family. Why? The vivid memories your children are making. The experiences they are receiving. The incredible people from all around the world they are meeting. The laughs and stories that are being shared. The games that are being played. The friendships that are being formed. The environment is warm , friendly, welcoming, and by far natures best to give. The learning that continues. Ontario Pioneer Camp ROCKS!
