Reminiscing

Remember those teen years hunting for the perfect summer job, with determination in mind. Dropping resumes off to almost everywhere in town, handing them over with sweaty palms, a fake smile to hide the upset stomach you have. I remember it all too clear. My first summer job was our small town Dairy Queen. I will never forget learning the art of the DQ swirl that accompanies every soft serve treat. I was so proud to finally get the swirl prefect, a talent I have used at a few soft serve machines at a buffet or two since. I was very proud that summer, serving up DQ to baseball & soccer teams, crowds of teens and families who were out for a summer stroll. I was actually PeanutBusterParfaitsurprised by the seniors who I found visited regularly for a little soft serve treat once a week, including my own grandpa. I was bringing in some summer dough and serving up smiles to everyone at my drive through window, it was a great summer. Going back to DQ today, I find myself smiling at my time at DQ it was my first introduction into the work force. How much it meant for me at that time because at 14 there is nothing more to write on my resume than my address and focus. It really is important for franchises such as Dairy Queen to give teens like I was once, a chance to learn, grow and welcome them into the work force with open arms.

It has been almost two decades since I was serving up cones at DQ, but the memories started long before than. When I was a little girl I remember grandma and grandpa taking me there for a cone or a sweet bonding treat. They didn’t have all the royal treats or hot food they have now. Whether the days are warm or the nights cool, DQ has you covered. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Strip Basket and a Peanut Buster Parfait which to me is my DQ match in heaven.

We treat the kids Dairy Queen as a reward, after a great day nothing beats sitting down and enjoying some traditional soft serve. A few months back I enjoyed some one on one at DQ with Mr L, he got a chocolate dip cone that paired well with this smile from ear to ear. A memory I know I built on an old classic Dairy Queen.

General Mills Does It Again

There is something so rewarding about buying a box of cereal and get some pretty cool coupons to clip. I love when General Mills adds bonus offers such as this to specially-marked boxes.
