Wine tours have been all the rage for years now and a growing trend among all (legal) ages. But have you ever considered a Grey County cider tour? Recently I learned that Grey County is quickly becoming known as one of Ontario’s prime destinations for lovers of wine, craft beer, and cider.

In this post, I’m going to give you a complete rundown on how you can make Grey County your next stop for your girlfriend getaway in Ontario. Perhaps you’re planning a bachelorette destination in Ontario?  Not only can you use this itinerary for bachelorette ideas but also for a mom camp getaway.

Accommodations in Grey County

Grey County, located (give or take) 2.5 hours from Toronto and around the same distance from City of Kawartha Lakes. You know you’re close when rolling green hills greet you from all directions, the smell of fresh air and you see speckles of Georgian Bay throughout the trees and the road lined with vineyards.

Located right in the middle of it all you can rent the main house at The Resting Place; it is absolutely stunning overlooking the rolling hills of Coffin Ridge Vineyard & Winery.

I was in awe the moment we turned the door handle to the side door. Opening up to stunning details and a warm and inviting feeling of being home. With the whole house rental, you receive the top two floors, including three bedroom suites with several common areas, a massive kitchen including a walk-in fridge, media room, library with enough space to sleep a big group. There is an in-ground pool, wrapped around porch and gardens. The outside isn’t as maintained as the inside of the house (or it could be we arrived too early in the season?), but I wouldn’t let that turn me off because the home inside was immaculate and spotless. This is a steal at $500/night (two-night minimum). During the low season between November thru April you can rent The Resting Place for $400/night.

Bonus, if a large group is renting the main house, the owners will sometimes make the loft above the garage “The Writer’s Haunt” available for an additional charge.

When you rent the whole house at The Resting Place, you are at the first stop in the cider tour because you overlook Coffin Ridge Vineyard & Winery.

Handcrafted Brewery, Winery & Cider Tours With The Beer Bus in Grey County

The dream kitchen awaits you at The Resting Place, the table is set, and your chef prepares a unique meal of your life! Foraged from Grey County by Chef, this menu is created using the freshest ingredients with extreme passion.

Each detail tells a story. Each petal, piece of cattail and wild leek is placed with purpose.

Every bite had me sinking into my chair, and after a whirlwind of flavors, Chef served a rich maple caramel chocolate tart that I’ve been craving ever since.

The Morning After Your Girlfriend Getaway In Ontario

Maybe you slept in or enjoyed the sun coming up. I enjoyed a morning coffee while I listened to the birds sing a song. All the while, reflecting on the wonderful women placed in my path and the gratitude I felt for their friendship. I planned on reading my summer read, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson, but my mind was bursting with excitement over my time at Mom Camp in Grey County.

Breakfast in Thornbury: No Cooking Required

A landmark in Thornbury for over 80 years breakfast at Thornbury Bakery Cafe was the perfect way to start the morning after an evening of late night giggles with your girlfriends. They cater to food sensitivities and have a fresh menu sure to please. I enjoyed avocado toast with smoked salmon on top, with a side of sausage!

If you’re craving cheese in downtown Thornbury, the Cheese Gallery is another hot spot to stop for. It includes a cute little coffee bar and all the cheese and sweets you can imagine.

Final Stop On Mom Camp in Grey County

Scandivane Spa Blue Mountian

No girls getaway is complete without a stop at this Ontario Spa! I mean after all that cider we need to detox right?

We started with Forest Bathing at then entrance Scandinave Spa, which is a great way to ease into the baths. A stroll through the self-guided trail along a pond and a chance to become one with nature. It’s a very modernized stroll, a clean mulch path with numbered stops along the way. The neighbor was cutting their grass so we did hear the hum of the tractor and at the end, you come out to the parking lot. However, I still felt at ease and balanced at the end of the forest bathing experience.

Note: The Scandinave Baths get very busy. It is highly suggested you book your time slot in advance. We saw groups getting turned away at the door.
