Switching it up in the kitchen is one of my favorite ways to cook, with no recipe is usually how it goes. A little pinch here and a little pinch there. However, the summertime heat always pulls me out the kitchen and keeping it simple is at the top of my list. When I was asked to add some Turkey to our BBQ, I was game. We love Turkey in our house and it is used far more than just for fancy occasions. My focus is always on healthy eating and Turkey brings a whole lot of healthy to our picnic table.
With the last week of school here and the kids keeping me on my toes this week my attention was on quick, easy and kid friendly. Butterball Turkey Pepperoni hit my shopping cart and with 50% less fat than regular pepperoni I was happy to serve it to my family.
BBQ Pizza Quesadilla made with Butterball Turkey Pepperoni
Layer your Quesadilla: Tortilla wraps/ Pizza sauce/ Mozzarella Cheese/ Butterball Turkey Pepperoni/ Tortilla. Than place it on the hot BBQ, heat through and flip. Once it is fully heated and crisp, call over the hungry kids. Serve it up with cut fresh veggies. Our kids loved these and the best part it was quick and my kitchen was still clean when dinner was done.
Looking for a more grow-up variation? Add pineapple, onions, hot peppers along with the recipe above for a sweet and savory adult kick.
How about throwing some Butterball Barbecue Turkey Burgers on the grill this long weekend? They are a great switch up for beef. I plan on making Indian-Spiced Turkey Burgers to add a little flair to our picnic table. After hitting the local farmers market I am sure to find a variety of fresh veggies to pair with this crowd pleasing recipe.
