Bread Making Workshop At South Pond Farms Itinerary
Here is what our Bread Making Workshop At South Pond Farms itinerary looks like:
9:30 am arrival – enjoy coffee/tea and snacks and mingle with the guest before the workshop begins with Chef Dylan. Chef Dylan is an artisanal bread baker of over twenty years making each of his beautiful loaves by hand. You will absorb his knowledge, through stories and years of experience. Insider Tip: Pick your workspace, I highly suggest a workshop right in front of the ovens in the middle of winter; it was so toasty warm.
Next up, you’ll make two loaves of bread (Kettle Bread and Focaccia) and learn about natural leavening. Since baking sourdough is a two-day process, you’ll take sourdough starter home along with a recipe to make your sourdough loaf at home. Don’t worry Chef Dylan walks you through all the steps to make it as simple as he can for you to bake after the class.
11:30 am– While, your bread is baking a fresh farmhouse lunch is waiting for you. Insider Tip: Be sure to BYO wine, or beer to enjoy with lunch. We brought a bottle of red wine which was the perfect pair for the lasagna that was prepared our group.
1:00 – A quick stop in the shop after lunch. Insider Tip: Pick up a couple of jars of South Pond Farms preserves to pair with your freshly baked loaves of bread. We love South Pond Farms Wild Blueberry Jam. Another staple in our house is featured in the LCBO Food & Drink Magazine in 2019 –South Ponds Farms Hotter than Hades Honey. It’s our go-to for salad dressings, dips or drizzle on warm bread.
Next up, go back to the bread kitchen to pick up your loaves hot from the oven.
Just because the class is over that doesn’t mean you have to leave. Insider Tip: Stop by the red barn to visit the animals. Take a stroll through the magical forest and breathe in the country air with a stunning backdrop before you.
