If you’re looking for a magical evening with full moon teachings surrounded by nature, warm souls, new and old friends, then I highly suggest you book a South Pond Farms Full Moon Supper. Keep reading to learn more about this magical, spiritual evening in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario and how Kim Wheatley paired the evening with her passion for Indigenous Knowledge.
When you find more, then you expected.
When we booked a mother and daughter date for South Pond Farms Full Moon Supper, we didn’t realize we’d be walking away changed. Honestly, we were going for the atmosphere and the delicious food, and we walked away with so.much.more.
The evening started with drinks and canapes overlooking the rolling hills of Bethany, Ontario. South Pond Farms is a short drive from Peterborough, Bowmanville, Lindsay, and Port Perry. I highly suggest you check out one of their upcoming special events because they sell out fast, like the Country Farmhouse Supper we wrote about this summer.
Food is more than you think.
“South Pond Farms Full Moon Supper is inspired by seasonal harvest, cooking techniques and menus that may have been used by early settlers. The Full Moon Suppers are a multi-course experience offered in different locations on the farm. All while celebrating the close ties between traditional agriculture and lunar rhythms.” – South Pond Farms
I’m not typically one who would find pleasure in watching a pig roast, and by no means do you have to view this during your South Pond experience. The fire pit is hidden if you’d rather not but the more I learn and appreciate the circle of life in a spiritual way I’ve come to understand food and the purpose. Our ancestors, the early settlers all had a deep connection to their food that we’ve come to lose over the years. The sacrifices, the process, it all is the circle of life. Food is more than something to fuel your body; it’s a gift from the earth, a mindful moment between our planet and you.
Kim Wheatley – Ojibwe Anishinaabe Grandmother
During our evening we had the honor to meet Kim Wheatley. Kim is an Ojibwe Anishinaabe Grandmother from Shawanaga First Nation Reserve and carries the spirit name Head or Leader of the Fireflower and is Turtle Clan. The moment I saw Kim I felt a spiritual pull to meet her and learn more about her, her teachings.
Kim is a warm soul and shares the passion for Indigenous knowledge on TV, radio and monthly at South Pond Farms. Kim has worked with over 34 First Nation communities having organized many Indigenous events, authored four books and so much more.
Kim’s love of Indigenous hand drumming/singing and Anishinaabe traditional teachings defines her legend, and it was an honor to meet her and listen to her stories and music.
Luna, The Turtle & 13 Moons
What is the moon? Wikipedia says the Moon is an astronomical body that orbits planet Earth.
But it is so much more. We’ve lost our connections over time, and it’s a shame. Learning about the moons connections to a women’s time a month is a tiny piece of the puzzle. Since that evening at South Pond Farms, I feel the pull to learn more about luna, and the connection to our soul and what it has in common with a turtle.

Everyone is chatting among themselves, most complete strangers, breaking bread together, filling their plates, clinking glasses of wine and everyone is happily smiling. South Pond builds a community and a gathering place for strangers to become friends over a delicious meal.” – Tammy inRdream.com
