Ten Ways Viamede Resort in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario is Boldly Different
When I first stumbled on Viamede Resort’s website, I remember a sense of calm overtook me. I could picture time standing still and find myself daydreaming about bringing my family there to experience all North Kawartha Lakes has to offer locals and tourist. In this post, you’ll read why Viamede Resort is Boldly Different and the perfect family getaway to book this summer.
Nestled in the magical woods on the north side of Stoney Lake travelers have been traveling to Viamede Resort since 1885. They are known as one of the finest full-service hotel and conference centers in Ontario. Viamede offers something for everyone, relaxation, adventure on and off the water and a delicious foodie experience for both carnivores and herbivores. They are making a splash in Ontario by living their motto “Boldly Different.”
Viamede Resort is Boldly Different
Keep reading for ten ways Viamede Resort is Boldly Different:
1. They go out of their way to help – literally.
10 minutes from the resort our truck broke down. With four children, one puppy and a pile of luggage we were stranded on the side of the road with a huge dilemma. Anyone with a big family like ours knows that most vehicle just doesn’t fit us. So when CAA said sorry, we can get your truck and a couple of people, but you need rides for the remainder of your family, we felt out of luck. Taking a leaping faith, I called Viamede Resort to explain our dilemma. In a heartbeat, they said they would come to pick us up. They saved us that hot day on the side of the road and in that instant I knew we were going to like the Viamede Team.
2. Viamede Resort Welcomes Pets.
Where can you go and bring your whole family along, including your fur children? Viamede Resort is pet-friendly and focuses on giving special love and attention to dogs. Our sweet puppy was welcomed on this trip, and you could tell she was happy to come along for the ride. She went on her first early morning canoe paddle and enjoyed new sights, smells and sounds.
All of Viamede’s cottages are pet-friendly, and they also have pet-free rooms if you prefer. There is no extra fee to bring along your pet and if you forget anything they have extra dog beds and treats for your furry friends. Around the resort, dogs must be leased but for your convenience dogs can run wild in the fenced in dog park. And in honor of your dog, Viamede will also make a donation of $10 to the Maggy Fund in support of Golden Rescues where they bring to Canada injured dogs from Istanbul and pay for vet care. That’s Boldly Different.
3. Free Lattes, Espresso & Teas To Keep You Going All Day Long.
Help yourself all day long to a selection of all your favorites. My suggestion would be if Viamede Resort would consider carrying dairy-free milk for those of us who cannot consume cows dairy. I enjoyed an Americano a couple of times a day, and it was perfectly brewed for the coffee snob in me.
4. Leave your wallet at home. This is a NO TIPPING Resort.
Who knew you could find an all-inclusive family resort right here in Ontario? Look no future Viamede Resort is Boldly Different, and they boost on making your getaway as smooth as possible. Guest are told not to tip. If you’d like to read more about Viamede Resorts, no tipping policy read here: https://viamede.com/2017/03/16/tips-no-thanks/
5. Gourmet Breakfast Included.
Deliciousness every time you sit down in the dining hall.
6. Viamede Trusts their Guest.
I want to think there is a trust anywhere you go, but in all honesty, it’s not always like this. You don’t need to sign out books, movies, or their games. You’re welcome to enjoy all their bikes, kayaks, canoes, life jackets at your leisure.
7. Time stops at Viamede Resort.
You get a sense of home when you can be spontaneous and see where you end up. And that is what I love about the trust you receive at Viamede Resort. You can borrow a paddleboard and paddle the day away exploring one of the many islands you see from Viamede shoreline because time stands still here and you don’t need to rush back or watch the clock. That’s Boldly Different.
8. Community BBQ.
We didn’t use Viamede’s Community BBQ when visited, but it is an option. You can order a BBQ dinner all prepped and ready to cook or bring your own. Deckside overlooking Stoney Lake you’re sure to make new friends.
9. Make a friend board.
I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere. The Find A Friend board works just like mad-libs: you jot down what you’re up to, and hopefully, fellow vacationers of similar interests will come along for the ride.
We didn’t answer an ad while we were at Viamede Resort, but we did make some new friends who invited our family for lunch and a boat ride on Stoney Lake.
10. Learn to Forge.
We’ve been to many resorts, vacations with our kids, but when you can get hands-on with the staff and absorb their passions and knowledge that makes special memories. We took part in the learn to forge walk with Ben the owner of Viamede Resort. His love for forging and the farm to table experience had the kids attention. We ate cattails, dandelions, garlic mustard to name a few. We even picked some wild herbs for the kitchen.
There are more than ten ways Viamede Resort is Boldly Different I could list much more. Viamede Resort has packages for everyone. Yep, most resorts have packages, but Viamede has specially designed a package for everyone’s needs. Whether you’re looking for a golden getaway, schools out vacation, parents run wild, culinary night, Viamede Resort has a package for you. You’re going to have to check them out for yourself.
