Canthook Restaurant Culinary Adventure at Calabogie Peaks Resort
During our Winter Wandering Itinerary for Making Family Memories at Calabogie Peaks Resort, we ate like Kings and Queens. I covered off a little bit about our dining experience, but honestly, it needs a post all on its own to truly appreciate Canthook Restaurant Culinary Adventure.

Mountain, Lake, and Land
Canthook Restaurant’s philosophy is to use the three integral parts of “Ottawa Valley” surrounding them to create culinary masterpieces – Mountain, Lake, and Land. They use local producers creating a dining experience that with feed your soul, satisfy your inner foodie and creates an exquisite culinary adventure you’ll reminisce about long after.
Don’t be surprised if you find mushrooms and wild greens from their mountains, pickerel, and trout from one of the many surrounding lakes; they strive on staying in season and keeping it local.
Book Chef’s Table at Calabogie Peaks Resort
Our dining experience was one of the best we’ve had in a long time, especially with our children joining us. Our kids are natural foodies like us and when Sous Chef Mark treated us with his beef tartar with smoky onions, a poached egg yolk, and braised radishes; the kids couldn’t get enough.
At first, I thought we’d split it two ways – we love tartar. Nope, the kids weren’t settling for that; we had to divide his exquisite delight six ways. I guess it’s our fault that our children inherited our love of trying new foods.
If you’re looking for a culinary adventure with the Chef serving you book the Chef’s Table.
The Bison Meatloaf Burger
Typically when you’re fine dining, you don’t often leave the restaurant and wish you wore stretchy pants. I mean, serving sizes when it comes to fine dining hardly ever leave you full. That is not the case when it comes to dining at Canthook Restaurant. This Bison Meatloaf Burger – slab bacon, chevre, cayenne onion, sherry aioli on sourdough bread – paired with a salad, had hubby unbuttoning his jeans.
Sink In Your Seat Goodness
Every single dish that came to our table had us sinking into our seat. You know what I’m talking about right? When you sit back in silence and cannot believe how good that bite was; every single bite was precisely like that filled with mouth-watering flavors.
Breakfast at Canthook Restaurant
Even breakfast was a culinary delight. The Eggs Benedict was so delicious hubby decided to have this dish two days in a row.
And that right there was mine, all mine.
Wildflower Honey Bees at Calabogie Peaks Resort
When Sous Chef Mark arrived at our table with six spoons of raspberries and honey, I was wondering if this was a new way to cleanse your palate? Nope, crackers, pickled ginger, and milk all are known to clean your palate not honey and berries.
Sous Chef Mark was introducing us to Calabogie Peak Resorts on site honey program. There is no better way to save the bees than to welcome them with open arms. That is precisely what the team at Calabogie Peaks is doing. Surrounded by fields of wildflowers, Calabogie Peaks Honey Bees are happily doing what bees do best – making honey. Sous Chef Mark treated us with one of their last retail jars of wildflower honey, and I’ve kept this jar just for mommy. It’s floral, minty flavor pairs perfectly in my afternoon tea.
If you’re dining at Canthook Restaurant at Calabogie Peaks Resort, you will find their very own honey hidden throughout their menu, including in their blueberry compote at breakfast.
If you love craft beer for a limited time, you’ll want to try The Bee’s Skis Craft Beer.
“Three months later and I’m still thinking about the Culinary Adventure we experienced at Calabogie Peaks Resort. It’s good to know that if you bring the kids that Canthook Restaurant dinner menu does include a kids menu but they do not have a kids breakfast menu. We did have a kitchen in our room and if you plan on cutting cost I’d suggest breakfast in your room when you bring the kids. We’d definatly love to experience the Canthook Restaurant menu in the summer when the crops are hopping; the food was devine!”
