Winter Road Trip – Picture by Picture Using Google Pixel 2 XL With TELUS
Picture by Picture Using Google Pixel 2 XL
On our recent road trip through Ontario’s Highlands, we brought along the new Google Pixel 2 XL on the TELUS network. Picture by picture, I hope to inspire you to believe that “photography is the pause button of life.” Don’t compromise on taking a picture – a picture is worth a thousand words and taking it with a quality camera, in my opinion, is mandatory.
Ontario Winter Road Trip
You don’t have to love winter sports to enjoy winter. Take a winter road trip; happiness can be found in the simplest of things. Like, a stop in a quaint little village for a coffee treat and a little photo shoot. We found a little giggle time in front of Neat Coffee Shop in Burnstown, Ontario.
Google Pixel 2 XL Has The Best Smartphone Camera
It’s hard to believe this crystal clear picture of this dairy-free latte was quickly snapped with the Google Pixel 2 XL camera.
Taking a picture inside a dark room is very hard to achieve on a smartphone camera, but the rear camera on Google Pixel 2 XL has a f/1.8 aperture; with a low f-value, the camera lets in a lot of light. Making the inspiring photographer inside of me happy.
Next up, wandering through the forest.
“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln
When was the last time you hugged a tree?
Trees give off a positive energy that lignites the fire within. Perfect way to fight the winter blues.

Did Google Pixel 2 XL Replace My Nikon?
With four active children, we love to schedule extra time between destinations and allow for stop the car moments. A stop the car moment usually is when the geography is just too stunning to drive by.
With my Google Pixel 2 XL in hand, I framed the beauty of this frozen lake between two naked trees, while the kids burned off some energy.
During our road trip, it was my natural reactions to pack our Nikon DSLR; I’ve been packing it since 2014. When I need a professional type of picture, it’s the camera I bring out, along with three lens and all the accessories. During our winter road trip, there was not a picture we captured using our Nikon. I only used my new Google Pixel 2 XL; which did the job of my Nikon without effort.
Can you believe the Google Pixel 2 XL took this picture? Photo credit goes to my husband. Plus, there are no filters added.
Let’s talk about the blur in the background. Also, called bokeh in photography.
Now I’m no photographer; I’m a mom who lives picture by picture because “photography is the pause button of life.” I’ve always carried my heavy Nikon and lens around for the bokeh. There has never been a smartphone device I’ve ever owned that could produce the blur in my photos that I craved, until now.
This stunning picture was captured using the portrait function on the Google Pixel 2 XL camera with no edits or filters.
Free Unlimited Storage With Google Pixel 2 XL
Save all your photos and videos in original quality with free, unlimited storage in Google Photos (until Jan. 15, 2021) – so you’ll never have to delete one memory to make room for another.
When my hubby is 70, we’ll need this picture of him monkeying around in his 30’s.
Everytime my Google Pixel 2 XL connects to WiFi it automatically uploads my pictures to Google Photo. It will also ask you when your space is getting low if you’d like to delete the already uploaded images from your device.
Which means I always have space to capture moments like these.
Google Pixel 2 XL Comes With An Assistant
One of the best parts of a winter road trip, actually any road trip is finding the best eats in the towns you’re driving through. When we arrived in downtown Perth around dinner time, I asked my Google personal assistant for a restaurant suggestion. My Google Pixel 2 XL pointed us to Michael’s Table for a home-cooked meal.
If I need to text my mom, navigate home, take a selfie, the best part is my voice will do it for me with the help of my Google personal assistant.
Google Pixel 2 XL Charges in Minutes
Being a photo happy mom paired with being a blogger, I always need to have a charged phone. The Google Pixel 2 XL charges in 15 minutes, giving you about 7 hours of battery life. Which means even at the end of a winter road trip you’ll always have enough battery life to catch the sun going down.
Tell me, how many pictures are on your phone right now?

Love the photo, would love to be out on ice fishing!
Do you ice fish? There is something relaxing about sitting in the ice hut! It’s been years since I’ve been ice fishing.
Guess I will have to give Google Pixel 2XL a try!
Love the photos,I have way too many photos on my phone!
I always think your photography is awesome but I love the Google Pixel camera, I’m not going to lie. I’ve had my eye on that or the Samsung Galaxy 9S+. I guess I’ll have to go into my TELUS store to test them out.
Any other good tips for me to consider?
Thank you! Choosing a phone for me is all about the camera. I’ve always been a Samsung user but the switch to the Pixel was effortless. Good luck!
I LOVE my Google Pixel 2XL as well(not sponsored!) 😉
I love it for the battery and pics. I am thrilled I don’t have to lug my Canon around to media events etc..

So happy you too are loving the Google Pixel 2XL! Thanks for reading, Erica!
