The Build-A-Bear Experience
“You’re never too old for a teddy bear.”
Unlike my children, I don’t sleep with my Teddy Bears, but I do still cherish and have my beloved childhood Teddy Bears. In honor of National Teddy Bear Day on September, 9th Build-A-Bear invites everyone to join them to celebrate with a BEAR-Y exciting deal. First, here is what the Build-A-Bear experience is all about.
More Than A Gift – It’s The Build-A-Bear Experience
This is not our first Build-A-Bear experience. Our children each own a few different Build-A-Bears. And when I told them we were off to experience BAB all over again they literally were jumping for joy!
Smiles, screams, hugs, and kisses all came my way.
Welcoming A New Baby
The first Build-A-Bear our family ever received was from Aunt Brandy and Nana. It was a gift when our second sweet baby was born. They took our oldest to BAB and she got to make a special bear for her sweet new brother. And every baby since they carried on the tradition.
Merry Christmas
Build-A-Bear is more than a gift it is an experience. When Nana gifted our children a Build-A-Bear experience a couple Christmas’s ago it was something they have never forgotten. It was extra special for them to share the experience with Nana. It was a day they will forever cherish.
Date Nights
During our Build-A-Bear experience, we came across a couple who were on a date at the Build-A-Bear Workshop. Whether you’re a Star Wars fan, Blue Jay fan or just love the simplicity of a traditional bear the Build-A-Bear experience would stand out among one of the best dates ever.
The Build-A-Bear Experience
From the moment, we set foot inside the Build-A-Bear Workshop the kids had some fun but tough decisions to make.
Which new Teddy Bear will I take home?
Which outfit and accessory is a perfect fit?
What will I name him/ her?
The kids had full range to pick from their heart although it would have been easy to push them toward the bears that were pulling at my own heart. I love the My Little Pony BAB (Build-A-Bear) on roller skates with the pink tutu but no one seemed to pick her. Maybe I’ll have to go back for my very own Build-A-Bear.
After they chose their new best friend they got to watch him/her be fluffed.
Next up, the kids kiss and wish upon a heart that is placed inside their new best friend.
After some pampering in the salon, they got to dress and pick out accessories.
When your furry best friend is all dressed you get to pick a name for them and print off a birth certificate.
All that’s left is for you to love, cherish and give you new best friend a warm home of their own.

I haven’t been to a Build A Bear store yet. When I was younger, my mother had a sweet friend who made Teddy Bears for me. I still have them.
My favorite memory was the very first build a bear that I made for my kids. AT the time there were no locations in saskatchewan , we were in LA and I saw the store and I made sure I made two for each child. LAter when we as a family were in Edmonton the kids got to go into the store there and get one made. By the time they finally put a store in the city close to me, both the kids were grown. (I still go into it every time I hit that mall)
sadly i would have to say that I have never been to one 🙁
I still have my teddy bear that my grandparents gave me 20 some odd years ago. We love buildabear!
when I was young we had a teddy bear at Christmas time with a red heart and sang songs. it was awesome
i had a stuffed bear that went with me to the dentist. He was very comforting.
Last year for Christmas I got one of my boys a batman build a bear. He is super soft with a batman print all over. We have probably 25-30 build a bears in my house. My 20 year old son is addicted and tends to spend all his extra money on new bears.
Our favorite teddy bear is Chicago Bears Happy Hugs Teddy, boys were very happy to have him
I had a favorite stuffed doggy named Digger, who became my sister’s favorite, then my brothers. He’s now tucked away until someone has a baby.
I loved taking my nephew to create his first Build-A-Bear. He had a blast.
I have many favorite teddy bears all of which have been passed down to my daughter. Even the one wearing a t-shirt with my name on it.
When my daughter kissed the heart and put the heart in her bear.
My favorite bear was white and flat, but I loved it because I could brush it and it’s hair didn’t come out.
the first day my youngest was handed his older brothers build a bear. almost 11 year old toy is my fave memory. .My youngest of course wants to make his own so we can pass them on down the generation line. Would love to re read the wishes when they have their own kids to pass them down to.
I honestly can’t think of any.
I remember getting my first build-a-bear – – it was a stuffed monkey!
We take 3 week road trips down through the US every summer and in every city we stop off at Build A Bear so the kids can get their Build A Bear Passports stamped and they usually pick up something for their bears from the local content.
My favorite Build-A-Bear Workshop memory is when I took my son to make his first Cookie Monster when he was a toddler.
The first time I brought my grandson there, he was so excited. Most dress up stuff is geared towards girls and we love that boys are included here.
My son built his first build a bear when he turned 5 and h loved the experience. He still sleeps with the bear and my wife has learned sew so she can make more clothes for his bear.
I loved taking my little ones to build a bear to make their special teddy bears over the years!

My daughter attended a birthday party at Build a Bear. She was thrilled with her new bear.
My favourite memory is taking my niece for the first time, she was about 3 and in awe of all the bears, we had such a blast!
We have always wanted to do the Build-a-Bear experience. Growing up I had a plush horse as my favourite “teddy bear”. My parents like to tell the story of how when I got a little older, I decided on my own to give it to my baby sister for her to enjoy.
My build-a-bear memory that I can favourably recall is when we got my daughter her first bear with a heart inside and she keeps on mentioning that her bear is alive because it can feel her emotions .
I actually didn’t have a teddy bear that I was attached to growing up. Instead I had a blanket I called boon and i took it everywhere. Wish i would have had a teddy though…that definitely would have been cuter lol
I never did Build-A-Bear and never had a favorite one !
About 10 years ago, I went on Mother’s day to build my own bear. Actually a bunny. And this was before I had kids. Maybe I wanted to have kids at the time, but my bunny was mine until then.
My favourite teddy bear memory was when I got my first Build A Bear! It was purple and I named her Stephanie!
My favorite memory is my son building a build a bear at the teddy bears picnic…it was his one and only he’s ever made. Now I have a 3 year old daughter and would love for her to experience it as well! Its magical.
Definitely taking our daughter to get her Luna my little pony bear!
My little guy loved going to build a Bear for the first time. My husband and I had never been either so it was new to all of us. My kid had a blast and loved choosing his new monkey and giving it a silly name. He still tells me every time he picks it up about the heart that’s inside the monkey and how he kissed it. Would definitely love to go back, wish there was one in my city!
My kids LOVE Build-a-bear … the favourite this summer was Evie … a pokemon stuffy

I took my son there last year for the first time. It was amazing. I will always remember the staff there. There are so interactive!
Yes, the staff are fabulous! You’re right they are very interactive and have so much patience with the children.
My older girls loved going to Build-a-Bear to make special bears. I think my favourite memory was when my eldest fell very ill and had emergency surgery, her younger sister, only a toddler at the time, suggested we go to Build-a-Bear and make her big sister a Doctor Bear so she could feel better. That was exactly what we did and Abby still at 15 has this bear. It helped her through a really tough and traumatic time in her life. Now they are older and not so into Build-a-Bear BUT Bella who is almost 4 has never been (why, I don’t know) but I would love to win and take her for her first Build-a-Bear experience!
I love Build A Bear.. The best memory is when I took the kids to the T-Rex Build A Bear store in Disney.. They were able to build a dinosaur.. Love them.. I enjoy BAB as an adult through the eyes of my sparks. I take them there yearly for Xmas so every spark can enjoy a bear.
