Just Let Go! Guy Harvey Outpost in St. Pete Beach
Located 1 hour 40 minutes from Disney World you will find St.Petes Beach outlined by the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The white sands, hot sun, and amazing sunsets are sure to etch memories of your family vacation for years to come.
During our time on St.Pete’s Beach, we stayed at Guy Harvey Outpost at Tradewinds Resort property. Once we arrived at Guy Harvey Outpost, it felt like we arrived on a tropical island. Not only did the sun feel hotter on the Gulf side, you quickly get a sense of a laid back lifestyle on this side of Florida. A feeling that even the busiest of people rapidly learn to adapt.
We stayed in the two bedrooms social suite at Guy Harvey Outpost located on the 6th floor and is 960 sq ft. Perfect for our large family, giving us all enough space to spread out.
Featuring two bedrooms, two baths, a large living area with pull-out couch, kitchenette, and dining area with seating for six. The Guy Harvey Outpost two-bedroom social suite overlooks the courtyard with an impressive view of the Gulf beyond.
Two Resorts in One!
Guy Harvey Outpost guests have the opportunity to share amenities with its neighboring sister property – the TradeWinds Island Grand, located 200 flip-flops away. Guests at each resort enjoy privileges at both properties, which means there is no shortage of fun to be had.
Each day with your accommodation you get a beachfront Cabana for two included in your resort amenity fee. You can book them in advance the day before.
We spent many days making memories on Tradewinds Island Resorts five acres of white sand right on St.Pete Beach. These memories are the memories we know will make an imprint on the lives of our children.
That moment, that memory is forever!
Although St. Pete Beach is busy, everyone kept to themselves, and there were many moments like this being had.
More Than a Beach!
Tradewinds Resorts has a weekly brochure that all guest receive. You can count on an activity every hour from morning-to-night to help keep you entertained. Most activities in the event brochure are included in your resort fee. However, there are a few splurges such as Kids Konk that are worth every American penny.
Kids Konk = Date Night
Date nights are hard to juggle when traveling, and at the same time, they are critical to refresh your bond as a couple. We placed our children in Kids Konk one night. From 6-9, we dropped all four children off for an evening without parents. They were in the safe hands of the Adventure Staff, who all are fully trained and made Kids Konk a night to remember. Plus, dinner is included.
Our children had so much fun with Kiyonna that they were sad the fun had to end.
Beach Walk with Captain Tim
One of the free activities that I highly recommend is an early morning beach walk with Captain Tim. Captain Tim is a wealth of information and great with the kids. His trek takes you down St.Pete Beach whereas a group you will learn shell names and more. Captain Tim is happy to answer any questions you have.
Guy’s Great Touch Tank Experience
Included in your resort fee, you can hold seas urchins and other sea critters in Guy’s Great Touch Tank Experience. Another reason why I feel so passionate about taking our kids out of school to travel is that their learning is expanded when you visit and explore as a family.
Triple Wipeout and High Tide Water Slide
Two more great activities included in your resort fee the kids won’t want to leave the Triple Wipeout and High Tide Water Slide. Both we spent hours laughing and giggling as a family.
There are endless hours of fun and memories to be made at Tradewinds Resorts. I didn’t even cover half of it. The food at RumFish Grill was one of our best dining experiences in Florida. Those lazy days poolside we were happy the Guy’s Gulf side Grill was on call to bring us our drinks and food orders to our sun chairs.
If I were to critic one thing about Guy Harvey Outpost at Tradewinds Resort, I would have to say the two bedrooms social suite we stayed in could use a little updating. The carpet was old; the pillows were flat, and mattresses could be replaced as well. To be honest, we only slept in our room and spent the rest of our time making memories.
“Our stay was comfortable and Guy Harvey Outpost is somewhere I’d visit again, the staff and memories we made there we will hold close forever!”
Shout out to the A Star team who went above and beyond to make our stay top-notch: Cortez, Kiyonna, Captain Time, Jake and Margo!

This looks like such a fun resort!!
Loved reading this post, Tammy! So much has changed since I was last at the Trade Winds…lots of fun new things have been added! I didn’t know part of the Trade Winds was a Guy Harvey Outpost! We stayed at a GHO in the Keys last fall and loved it! I adored reading about your shell walk. My mum used to get us up around 5am and we’d be out on the beach around 5:30am to look for all the fabulous shells that had washed up on St. Pete Beach during high tide. I just loved doing that. Great post, Tammy!
