My Training Day with Nikon as #NikonMOMents MOM
As a blogger there are a few ways we receive opportunities. Many our pitched to us and it is up to us to accept or decline the offer. Other’s are through companies like Mom Central Canada who connect brands with moms and bloggers and we have to apply to be on the short list. This type of application requires us to fill out an on-line form and it always finishes with a question asking “What excites you about this program?”
This is the part where you do you homework, write from your heart and leave the brand with confidence in you. I am pretty confident that my “What excites you about this program?” answer is what landed me the opportunity along with 10 fellow Toronto area blogger to call myself a Nikon MOM!
Day-dreaming becomes reality.
I don’t have a history as a professional photographer, nor have I ever held a DSLR before our Nikon training day. I do however love to tell stories with quality pictures and have the desire to learn how to use more than a point and shoot camera in auto mode.
I day-dream about taking pictures that give the person looking at them goose-bumps. I day-dream about falling in love with photography and learning everything from how to hold a DSLR to fully setting the manual mode and everything in-between.
As a proud mom of 4 I want to capture those sweet memories that will tell a picture prefect story in the years to come…because the memory is at the heart of the image!
Training Day with Nikon
Spending the day in Toronto with 9 inspiring Canadian bloggers and the Nikon team was a gift all in its self. However a Nikon training day wouldn’t be complete without a Nikon camera. Nikon had prepared in advance and set up a new Nikon D3300 waiting for each of us, fully charged and ready to use.
I have always been one to take picture with my point and shoot by looking at the screen. I never could get comfortable looking through the view finder. Although I noticed photographers always used the view finder when shooting with their DSLR cameras opposed to using the screen to line up the prefect shot.
Did you know? When using a DSLR the camera processes the picture faster through the view finder. It takes longer for the camera to process the picture when snapped through the screen. Now I cannot take a picture from my Nikon D3300 any other way, the view finder has become natural.
Since my training day with Nikon as a Nikon MOM I have started to find my inner photographer and I am falling in love with holding my Nikon D3300. It’s been the bag I grab on the way out the door to ensure I will never miss a Nikon MOM moment.
Over the course of the next 12 months follow hash-tag #NikonMOMents for social shares from the Nikon MOM moments team. Plus each of us will be posting five personal events where we will capture our memories at the heart of the image!
