Making Ice Cream Truck Treats From Home {Magic Shell Dipper Pops Recipe}
There are a few indulges in life that I cannot pass up and ice cream is one of them. It is the icy cold treat that I use as a reward for the kids when they have had a successful day (I use it as my reward too.) There is something extra special about drizzling a thick layer of syrup over a scoop of ice cream sprinkled with your favourite toppings.
“Those moments of indulging in an ice cream treat allow everything on your mind to slip away just for a second.”
Classic Ice Cream Truck Memories
When I was a little girl I would hear the ice cream truck coming from miles away. I remember running to my grandpa who would empty his pockets and provide me with change to enjoy my very own icy cold treat.
Today we live in the country and those joyful sounds of the ice cream truck are something our children only have experienced once at a pool party and it was joy to their ears as they lined up to pick their very own ice cream truck treat.
Smucker’s® is tapping into those nostalgic childhood memories by taking popular ice cream truck classics and showing Canadian families how to reinvent them at home.
“For us country folks, Smucker’s® is giving us the inspiration to enjoy our very own ice cream truck treat made in our kitchen.”
We got busy in the kitchen making ice cream truck inspired favourites – from cones to sundaes – and our favourite had to be the Magic Shell® Dipper Pops which uses the Smucker’s® Magic Shell® Chocolate Flavoured Topping. It freezes in seconds and leaves a snap to each bite.
Magic Shell® Dipper Pops
Prep Time: 5 minutes + 2 hours freezing time | Makes: 1 pop
Ingredients:
3 tbsp (45 mL) Smucker’s® Magic Shell® ChocolateFlavoured Topping
½ cup (125 mL) vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt, softened
Sprinkles or candy
Directions:
- Place 1 tbsp (15 mL) Smucker’s® Magic Shell® on the bottom of 4 oz disposable cup.
- Top with ½ of ice cream, insert wooden stick and then top with 1 tbsp (15 mL) of Smucker’s® Magic Shell®, remaining ice cream and remaining Smucker’s® Magic Shell®.
- Freeze until firm, about 2 hours.
- Cut cup away from ice cream and roll in sprinkles to garnish.
Magic Shell® Dipper Pops were so easy to make and fun for the kids to watch. I couldn’t find a 4oz cup so I used a 12 oz cup and made them a little bigger, still made with love and just as tasty.
Miss C says “I like that the magic chocolate hardens and doesn’t make it very messy to eat.”
