A Canadian Doll for a Canadian Girl Maplelea Girls Review
Canadian Pride
There is something deep down inside that speaks to us Canadian’s when we see a Maple leaf. I seem to get all warm and fuzzy when I see a maple leaf as a logo or better yet, a big maple tree.
At the same time marketing seems to brain wash our little girls to love a doll that doesn’t even wear a proud maple leaf on her sleeve. When my little girl came home requesting to follow a trend from a cross the boarder doll I explained that we need to enjoy Canadian made dolls and show our pride in Canada.
With a little exploring I was surprised to learn of our very own Canadian girl doll Maplelea who speaks to Canadian girls just like my little girl is and proudly wears our maple leaf on her sleeve.
Miss C picked her Maplelea doll based on her own likes so the two of them can become the best of friends. Although we live in Ontario Miss C felt a connection to Taryn because of more than Canadian geography.
The ‘Maplelea Girls’ character Taryn hails from Banff, Alberta. Growing up in the mountains has given Taryn an appreciation of the great outdoors. She is an environmentalist with a love of the clean fresh mountain air, butterflies, wilderness camping, and hiking. She enjoys figure skating and has a passion for painting.
Taryn, My Canadian Maplelea Girl
Taryn is a special girl.
Her smile is like mine. She looks like me.
She likes the same thing’s I do.
I read books with her. I ride my bike with her.
I eat with her. I play games with her.
I sleep with her. I colour pictures with her.
We have fun together. We are best friends.
Maplelea Girls Speak Quality
When we received Taryn I remember looking at her and memorizing over her features and the quality that was put into her. From her shoes to her hair Maplelea Girls are made with love for our Canadian Girls.
All Maplelea Girls™ are 46cm (18″) vinyl play dolls, quality crafted to resemble porcelain, but with the durability of vinyl. Each doll is designed with exceptional detail: their hands can hold a variety of accessories, their hair is long, bountiful and meant to be fashioned in endless styles, and their feet are flat, enabling each doll to “stand on her own two feet”. Ball joints at hips and shoulders provide a range of motion, and soft torsos make them comfortable to hold.
Every Maplelea™ girl comes dressed in a striking starter outfit in a sturdy, decorative storage box with a keepsake journal. A range of clothing and accessories that reflect each Maplelea Girl’s interests and personal fashion style are available, along with furniture and accessories suitable for all characters.
” If you have a Canadian little girl in your life, I can assure you she would fall head over heels in love with a Maplelea girl doll. The moment Miss C laid eyes on Taryn they have been best friends. “
Who was your best friend when you were a little girl?
Thanks for In R Dream!
Great review! We love Maplelea!
I appreciate your review… I am thinking of getting one for my granddaughter on her 4th birthday. The age recommendation is for 6 and up, would you agree with that? I don’t mind waiting another year if necessary.
thanks
Hi Joanne – thanks for swinging by! I think a 4 year old girl would love an Maplelea Girl just as much as a 5 or 6 year old. She may need help with dressing her but in the years to come Grandma can build on her collection, adding much more meaning to her maplelea Doll today. I hope that helps!
Those are too cute. I love that they’re Canadian made and that they represent different areas of Canada. I also like that they are dressed and look like the age of the child that is supposed to play with it. I think that’s very important when looking for a doll for your daughter.
Very cute dolls I believe that this would be something my daughter would love to have.
They are the prefect present for a little girl!
Maplelea Girls are gorgeous dolls!! I had the pleasure of reviewing Leonie a couple of years ago and just loved her. They are top quality dolls and so much goes in to every detail in the making of these dolls. Their eyes are so life-like! Love the outfits AND the book that gives some background on the heritage of the doll. Great review 🙂
These are truly adorable. I love that their purely Canadian. I have plans to start a collection for my granddaughter.. 1 a year at Christmas maybe!
I absolutely love these dolls! This is the perfect (and even better!) equivalent to the American Girl dolls. They look like real girls (not Barbies) and teach about Canadian history and culture in a fun way. It was nice to see how much your daughter bonded with the Taryn doll 🙂
Your exactly right Julie they are a great teacher for our little girls. We need to stand proud to be Canadian and Maplelea Girls are leading us in the right direction!
My girls have Taryn and Saila and they play with them all the time. I love Maplelea!
I had a big doll as my friend as a little girl. I remember getting the big box at Christmas, it was very special.
I didn’t have a big doll as a little girl. But I can see through my daughters eyes the excitement of having one is just what every girl deserves!
Oh they’re adorable, I love that each one has a personality the child can bond with
I really love that Canadian girls have dolls just for them, everything is so Americanized in our culture, it’s truly awesome to celebrate our own country!
These are cute dolls! My favourites were always my barbies and one cabbage patch doll.
