Sharing Smiles on International Day of Happiness with Origami Flowers #HPFamilyTime #HappinessDay
Your hear it all the time today is National Napping Day, National Pie Day, today actually is called National Awkward Moments day. Who would have known? But typically I don’t follow the trends of National days because in all honestly who makes these things up? Plus most of them will not change the world or help me reach my personal goals of success. In my opinion these dedicated days are something to fill up with mindless clutter that in all honestly will no better me or you.
But I do celebrate those days that will bring the world together to help a cause such as Earth Day on April 22nd. When I heard March 20th is deemed International Day of Happiness I knew it was an opportunity to fill the buckets of other’s (as my two kindergartens put it) and together that will benefit us all.
Did you know we all have invisible bucket’s over our head and as we do good deeds they spill over. This is called “Filling Buckets.”
We took the opportunity to celebrate International Day of Happiness and made Origami Flowers to share with Nana from Snapfish.com during our March break. All the pictures below were captured on our HP Slate 8 Pro as part of our Magical March Moments and the printable’s were printed in bright colour on our HP Photosmart 7520 printer.
It was our first time making Origami and I was so excited to learn how to make it with my children. It was a little difficult for Little O who is 2 but the older three with their listening ears on, did a wonderful job following the direction of mommy.
Make your own Origami Paper Flowers on Snapfish.com for International Day of Happiness.
Filling Nana’s Bucket.
After we enjoyed making the Origami Paper Flowers together we headed over to Nana’s house to fill her bucket. We brought Pizza from our favorite pizza place and brought her a homemade Origami Paper Flower that will never wilt or fade. The kids were so proud and that is the best thing about filling someone’s bucket you also fill your own.
I cannot think of a better way to fill the bucket of someone on International Day of Happiness then with a homemade gift. It cost nothing leaves an ever lasting touch and makes both parties happy. Happiness does a body good.

I am always looking for a way to keep the kids busy that will enhance their learning and get their brains thinking. Just as we did with the Origami flowers we challenged our mind to try something new. Maybe Origami flowers aren’t for you? How about making an Origami Monster Truck? Or Origami Fortune Cookie? SnapFish.com has some really neat and different printable ideas to print off and try with the kids. Best part it is Free. Sharing them with a loved one on International Day of Happiness sounds like the prefect way to fill your bucket.
What makes me Happy?
Where do I start? I could talk about a million things that make me smile, but in all honesty it is not the things that make me happiest. It is the people. My family, parents, in-laws, sisters, brother, sister in laws, brother in law, nieces, nephews, grandparents, my friends new and old. These are the ones that hold my heart and make me happy.
All this talk of happiness I have to get sappy and share a picture of the five people who truly make me happy in my skin. These people who give me a hug when I need it. These people can make me smile when I am down. These people know who I really am. These people give me goosebumps when I talk about them. These people make me feel proud. My husband and children.
Together we will soar in Happiness!
How will you celebrate International Day of Happiness? What makes you happy?
