Probiotics helped us avoid the Flu #NaturallyAtHome with Orange Naturals

Now that March break is over I can no longer jinx myself by saying no one got sick during March break! However that was not the case a few weeks before March break. Our three oldest school aged children were hit with a nasty flu that lasted five days each. The worst we had ever seen in a flu bug. It felt like a nightmare when we were in the thick of it and I was walking in a complete fog for two weeks.

Heartbroken as I watched our oldest son fade away to bones and nothing would stay down. He spent 4 sleepless nights on the bathroom floor. But no one else showed any signs of this flu bug he was hosting. He was in full-out Flu for four days to the point that I needed to get him looked at. Off to the hospital we went thinking something much more worst was the case. Which had my stomach in knots. All tests came back fine and we were sent home with only signs of the one child being sick with the flu. Confused as to why no one else was getting it, day five he was on the mend and finally keeping down foods. Day six off to school and that is when it hit child number two, followed by number three days later.

Two weeks, no exaggeration of this horrible five-day flu to completely over take three of our school aged children. I cried daily wishing I had a nanny to take over. However my husband was amazing and came home one lunch for me to nap from exhaustion. He wasn’t getting any sleep either and the both of us wore our parenting top hat’s those two weeks. Looking back it was unbelievable just how much this bug over took our bright colorful children. It was scary!

All the while.

During this two-week event, I was trying everything in my power to avoid this flu bug. There was no way hubby or I could afford five days down or having a two-year old get hit by it.

Germaphobes are obsessed with sanitation and feel compelled to clean excessively.

Being the Germaphobes we are having the flu in the house send us both in a tail spin. Every blanket, sheet, pillow gets washed, windows gets open (even if it is -30 outside), light switches, door handles you name it I have sprayed it.

So why did our three school aged children get this horrible flu bug but mommy, daddy and their toddler brother didn’t? Two reasons I see plan and clear.

  1. For some reason my school aged children cannot keep their fingers out of their mouth or close too. I repeat this to them till I am blue in the face, I have Google disgusting pictures of germs with hopes a vision will stick. I make them wash their hands each time I see it but for some reason all three school aged children of mine like to put their hands in their mouth. So how many times a day is this happening? Two Kindergartens and a Grade Two I am confident I got no control over this one.
  2. Orange Naturals Probiotic Reivew by Influenced Canadian Mommy Blogger In R DreamOrange Naturals. Once I seen the first signs of flu in our house, I doubled and tripled everyone’s daily vitamins and started introducing Probiotic Powder for toddlers through teens to all the kiddies a few times a day. I am very confident this is why our toddler didn’t get hit with the flu. I boosted his immune system and kicked ours into gear too with a high dosage of all things natural. I also learned that giving Probiotics daily in addition to your vitamins in the Winter will keep you strong and healthy. So since then a Probiotic boost has been underway for everyone.

Orange Naturals Blog

After my two weeks of fog I finally got caught up with the Orange Naturals blog where I am inspired each time I click on. Timing was a little off but I found this great article on Staying Healthy While Travelling. It seems I was doing everyone right by boosting my families immune system but maybe a little too late for those wee ones of mine who are in the public school system and enjoying their fingers daily. Yuck!

We will be working on breaking those nasty habits and in the mean time I will continue to boost my families immune system before another bug hits my home. Thanks to Orange Naturals I am armed with all the knowledge I need to keep my family running strong and those nasty flu bugs out.

“We spend March break smiling and doing all the things we love to do. The kids have never looked healthier and felt better with the probiotics boost in their system. There was not a flu bug in sight and that is just the way I like it to be. “

Did your family stay healthy over March Break? If so how did you spend it?

  • We did stay healthy over spring break, but really couldn’t do anything special because I was working. The kids enjoyed the break from school, though!

  • Having just experienced a horrible 5-day flu myself, I am definitely going to have to research these products more and consider getting them for my family!

  • I will look into Orange Naturals, this winter has been hanging on and a new bug is invading our home once again

  • I just recovered from a brutal flu last week and really thought that was it for me. I can never seem to dodge the bullet when the virus is floating around. So sorry to hear your kids were sick….that could not have been an easy time for you!

  • Not fun when the flu bug hits and it sounds like it was a nasty one in your house. I have been taking probiotics for other reasons but it seems to be helping boost my immunity, I made it through the winter without even catching a cold which for me is amazing. They are a different brand but I will look into Orange Naturals.

  • My husband and I plus our two kids had a flu for a few days. I was the last to get it and thankfully didn’t last long but I did develop a wicked cough that needed an inhaler to get rid of. I really should look into probiotics more.

    • Jennifer it felt like a nightmare. I didn’t share this above but smack in the middle we found lice on one of the boys. Hense the shaved heads above.

  • It’s awful when kids are sick, not nice. I have not heard of probiotics with vitamins to boost your immune system. This is great and I will be looking at adding this to my family grocery list.

  • Ohhh! Your poor son! Hubby and Little One were both badly hit by the flu all Winter. I think they’ve been hit by every bug that came around! Knock on wood, I haven’t been too badly ill. Ha! Now that I said that, I will likely end up getting sick! LOL! I need to get some Orange Naturals!

  • Oh my that sounds like a hard two weeks! I’m afraid to jinx myself in this comment so I won’t say one thing I’m thinking LOL. Glad you guys got through it and thank GOODNESS you, hubby and little one didn’t get it! I’ve never tried probiotics although I’ve been meaning too. I’ll keep an eye out for Orange Natural when I get around to trying some.

  • That is how the flu hits us. One gets it then just as it looks like nobody else, wham! As a mom it is hard to watch but we do what we can to fight and keep them on the mend. As well as keep the others healthy. Orange Naturals has saved the day for us before
