Ring In the New Year Appetizer: Cranberry Jalapeño WonTon Crisps { #shop #cbias }
New Years Eve Snuggles
It is hard to believe 2013 is counting down to an end. My lists and fridge is full of all things Christmas, in a few day’s time it all will be history. New Year’s much like Christmas seems to sneak up too. Before we know it we are keeping it simple because Christmas took all our energy’s. The last few years a night of snuggles and movies seems to be the prefect New Years Eve for us. It wasn’t always like that before kids but I love our quiet New Year’s Eves as a family of six. Typically we (as a family) hand craft some appetizers or a themed dinner. In which we eat in the living room (completely out of our ordinary) and watch a series of movies. When the clock strikes 12, we hug, we cheer, we snuggle our babes into bed.
Beating the Rush at Loblaws
Can you really beat the rush right before Christmas? Well I tried when I backed up all four kiddies today and ventured out for some last-minute grocery’s at Loblaws before the big day. Each cash was running and the lines were actually very quick to get through. Which was great for me, because keeping a single file through the Christmas rush is very event full with four children.
Cranberry Jalapeño WonTon Crisps
Once Christmas is over my fridge is always full of Christmas left overs. When brainstorming the though of the Cranberry sauce that would be taking up my fridges real estate, paired with my dedication of using all the leftover’s in my fridge I though this recipe would be prefect for a New Year’s Eve Appetizer.
- cranberry (fresh, frozen or use up your already made sauce)
- Jalapeño (seeds removed)
- Green Onion
- Softened Cream Cheese
- WonTon Wraps
- Egg ( as glue for the WonTon folds)
- Oil to fry
- Mince the first 3 ingredients, then add the softened Cream Cheese, mix well.
- Brush the egg on the perimeter your Wonton Wrap (this is the glue and is a very important step.)
- Add a tiny bit of the filling to your WonTon Wrap (be sure not to over fill it our it will burn in your hot oil.)
- Fold over to form a triangle.
- Seal your fold by firmly pressing down on the edges with a fork.
- Add to your hot oil and cook until golden and crisp!
ENJOY!
How are you celebrating New Years Eve?

Now that is an interesting recipe. I am not sure if the hubster would like the cranberries though.
Mmm, these sounds awesome. I love jalapenos. Pinned it.
Oooooh! I love the sounds of this! I have never tried working with wonton wrappers – but they look pretty easy to deal with 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
