Fresh Veggies just for you Canada! Thanks McDonalds for listening. @McD_Canada
There once was a time where I did not eat meat, I was a teenager and exploring my options. Although now I do enjoy a burger or steak, I still enjoy vegetarian options as part of our weekly menus.
When I seen that McDonald’s grabbing the attention of vegetarians and health conscious Canadian’s with their NEW Veggie Signature McWrap, I smiled and ordered one. I ordered the The Mediterranean Veggie McWrap which features two exciting ingredients that have never been on their menu before: hummus and real feta cheese. Anything with real feta cheese has my attention. Not to mention mouth-watering tomato, cucumber, red onion, iceberg lettuce, crispy lemon-seasoned onions and a creamy Mediterranean sauce, served in a whole wheat flour tortilla. I must say my taste buds were dancing and I didn’t even miss the chicken.
Back in the Spring I attended a McDonald’s picnic event with McDonalds’ Director of Menu Innovation Anne Parks, read more here. What stood out to me about Anne was her love of foods. She is a country girl much like myself, who gardens, cooks and loves to come up with unique flavor combinations. She came across as a very down to earth woman, with a goal of meeting the unique palettes of Canadian’s. She cares about Canadian’s and her desire to please them is spoken in each and every word she spoke.
Anne Parks has created some unique recipes to share with Canadian’s. Below is her Beet Salad and has me adding beets to my farmer’s market list.
Anne share’s her Vegetarian Chili, which is a perfect dish for comfort during a chilly Fall day. I actually prefer a Vegetarian Chili over a beef chili any day. I will be adding this one to my slow cooker in the weeks to come.
Did you know?
Canada is the first country to use a whole-wheat tortilla.
Maybe The Santa Fe Veggie McWrap is more your taste? It features fire-roasted corn, black beans, a blend of real cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, tomato, red onion, iceberg lettuce, crunchy tortilla strips, chili lime glaze and southwest sauce, served in a whole wheat flour tortilla. The best part is they are made to order so you can add or switch the toppings to suit your needs.
Which Veggie McWrap has your taste buds dancing?
Thank you for reading In R Dream!
( We were provided a chance to taste the new Veggie McWraps, all opinions as always are my own.)
I have been a vegetarian for 46 years and I have watched fast food restaurants change. It is nice to see McDonald’s step up
The Santa Fe because I love spicy!
I also like the vegetarian option. I have not tried them yet, but think I would try the Santa fe.
I LOVED the idea of McD’s having some VEGETARIAN friendly options like these wraps on their menu – until I saw the nutritional contents. What a shame!
Your right the sauces add a lot of calories. I mention you can make to order, which is a great way to hold the sauces or mention to make them light. Thanks for swinging by!
