Safety and Luxury during our 5000 KM Family Road Trip to #PEI #InfinitiLove
This Summer we packed up the kids and went on our first (of many) long family road trip’s. We skipped through a few provinces, time zones and after 5000 km we all were still smiling. With four kids that maybe a challenge, but our little secret was the luxury of the Infiniti QX.
Being a large family we do have very limited options when it comes to our ride. We require it to pull approx 3500 lbs and more at times, which means all we have to choose from are SUV’s. I remember the first time I laid my eyes on the Infiniti QX, my jaw dropped and it was love at first sight. Yes I know it’s a truck, but I have said it more then once I have a connection with trucks and this one had my attention.
We packed the stunning QX up with our four children and hooked on the trailer weighing a whooping 4000 lbs. Our destination was beautiful Prince Edward Island over 17 hours from home.
Read more on Travelling with small kids on this post. The Infiniti QX56 gave the kids lot’s of elbow room. When travelling with kids having lot’s of elbow room is a sanity saver. Less arguments happen, plus there is more room for comfort and to snuggle in their blankets and pillows. The kids will tell you they love the DVD players in the Infiniti QX56 something that was a treat for them. We didn’t play continual movies (we prefer them to discover) however when they were tried and needed some quiet time they did enjoy a movie on the dual screens. My only negative on the Infiniti QX56 has to be, the entertainment system came with 2 head sets and with four kids this is a problem. To avoid argument we let the movie play on the Bose sound system, which meant mommy and daddy had to listen without seeing.
I believe what made the Infiniti QX56 work for our large family was we removed the 2nd row center console so the children could travel through to the third row. When you have two little ones in-car seats this makes it so much easier on mom and dad. No moving car seats for each entry and exit. We actually have this done in our current SUV.
With two days, a few provinces and 17 hours behind us, we arrived on the red dirt of Prince Edward Island.
We are not ones to sit on the beach and watch the waves. We love to explore and exploring with the Infiniti QX56 was exploring in style. We were surprised to see that we were the only Infiniti QX56 on PEI that we came across. Even the kids pointed that one out to us. But we were not surprised by the compliments and looks we received as we drove from tip to tip. I was even stopped and asked if they could take a picture of our ride. I was happy to chat up about all the great features, including the power the Infiniti QX56 had. Once you seen us spinning up the red dirt the power was obvious.
As I mentioned we explored PEI from tip to tip and we found corners that were vacant and the only population was us. We had fun driving the Infiniti QX56 through the red sands and she looked good wearing spots of red when we finally covered her from wheel to roof racks in red mud. (We needed to fully experience her from luxury to off roading and we put her to the test.)
During our exploring from tip to tip, we really had the opportunity to get to know the Infiniti QX56 and falling in love is just what we did. She is the first ride that has ever allowed us to feel completely safe well pulling a loaded 4000 lb trailer with ease and grace. She gave us confidence that we could stop on a dime with 4000 lbs behind us. She did just that.
During our 5000 KM road trip I tweeted about my #InfinitiLove along the way.
I could write a novel about how much we loved the Infiniti QX56 and the kids would have to agree she has left an imprint on us and one day I hope we meet again. For now I will continue to dream that one day an Infiniti QX will be wearing our licence plates.
What is your dream vehicle?
Thank you for reading In R Dream!
( Thank you to Infiniti Canada for allowing us the opportunity to take a road trip with the QX.)
That looks like a awesome vehicle
We pull a trailer all the time and I have to admit, I’m always nervous about having to stop quickly. So happy to hear that your family was safe after the Moose incident. You really can’t prepare yourself for something like that besides picking the best and safest vehicle you can. Looks like you guys picked a winner.

That looks like a FAB vehicle for a large family! Love it!
I love all the photos of your family enjoying the Infiniti! In terms of a dream car (which would not fit our family), I would love a metallic blue 70s corvette!
Family road trips can be a little stressful – but, it looks like you had loads of room for your family to stretch out and everyone had their own space. I am so thankful that you got stopped before hitting that moose, yikes!
It for sure looks like you road in style, comfort and safety all the way to the east coast and back.
What a stunning vehicle! Our Ford Escape is on its last legs and we have been looking at what to replace it with. Unfortunately, as we live in a remote location we only have a Ford and a Dodge dealership in our town. Others are located between 4-8 hours away. So servicing a vehicle other than a Ford or a Dodge would be a problem for us. But I want a vehicle that is different from what is around here. As you can imagine, there are a lot of Fords and Dodges. LOL! Thank you for the great post. I am off to the Infiniti website to check it out further!
