Making A Real Mom @Pampers Video: Behind The Scenes
Top Secret Mission
In the month of June I worked on a top-secret project with Pampers. One that was purely a blessing to me and our family. I was only able to spill the top-secret mission with close family and friends. An experience that helped me wrap up my baby years and assisted me to accept and move on to the next chapter in our lives. It is far more glamorous than I ever expected, giving me a proud feeling about my family and about the mother I have become. I call it the icing on the cake, the turning of a page and the welcoming of a new chapter, not to forget, moving away from diapers.
The mission was to host a camera crew in our home, featuring our fourth moving on to “Pamper’s Easy Ups”, Q&A interview with me and catching glimpses of our children playing. We accepted this gracious gift, now the pressures was on to clean, organize and shop for a new outfit.
Behind The Scenes
It was a long week, counting down the days till the film crew arrived. We had no clue what to expect. It wasn’t till last-minute we found out how many were arriving and the layout of the day. The rumors I heard about hosting a film crew in my house where comical. That my street would be lined with loads of people and the yummy food trucks would feed us prime rib and lobster. The visions were a little intimidating and I was happy to hear it would be a small crew of 6 and they were leaving for lunch to give us a chance to feed the kids in quiet. Although Lobster did sound good to me.
Our crew of six arrived and took over our home. They were a great group and full of manners, making sure I was comfortable with every move. I was comfortable, but very nervous about my interview. You see they never shared the questions they were going to ask, there was no opportunity to review or prepare my answers. They wanted real mommy answers that showed no preparation just pure honestly and love in every answer.
Daddy took all the picture from behind the scene which capture the story and memory very well. Looking at the commercial now and reviewing the pictures it is very neat to see the scene from still to action.
Little Oakley really enjoyed watching the crew set up the stage. I must thank both our mothers for taking the other 3 children outside to play so we had time to take in the experience without interruption.
The interview took a little over 2.5 hrs and was filled with repeat questions to help capture a seamless answer in my real mommy moment. To my surprise after the first few my comfort level rose and I felt great. My husband and Amber (Pamper rep) were on the side lines in the kitchen cheering me on, watching from the screen.
The potty walk a famous scene in the commercial. I was nervous about how many cuts this scene would have but little Oakley was a champ and we only filmed it twice. He really liked the Director and that made the walk a little more fun for Oakley.
The quality in these pictures aren’t the greatest due to lighting however this scene was one of my favorites. The children waited all day for their moment to shine, the few seconds they had on-screen highlighting the way our siblings play. They all did a fabulous job capturing real play moments with a camera crew looking over them.
That was our “Pamper’s Easy Up” behind the scenes journey. Now for the final piece of work….

Make it fun and realize it might take a while so be patient
Wow, didn’t know there was so much involved! Glad you took the time.
For potty training, you need to be patient and persistent. Show by example, especially if you have older siblings.
I tried all kinds of things even giving smarties as a reward but all that did was have them running to the potty every 5 mins lol then someone told me not to worry as no one walks down the aisle still in diapers. So I told myself that about weening off the bottle too , no one walks down the aisle with a bottle in their mouth lol basically just relax they all learn eventually and in their own time so no sense in stressing about it
As a mom of five boys (only one left in diapers) my best tip is DO NOT PUSH or rush. They will let you know when they are ready. Its NORMAL for them to still be wearing diapers at 4. Its NORMAL for them to be fully trained at 2. Each child is different, don’t stress about it. My 4th son was very very reluctant to use the potty, and then one day about 3 months after he turned 4 he just started to use the potty. He was fully day trained in less than 18 hours. So my best tip is just relax, it will happen.
reawrd for each time they use the potty and if/when they have an accident dont get upset or mad.
Always be consistent with potty trips multiple times a day.
don`t rush them,,stickers and other small rewards work great!
I used a sticker chart with both of my kids for rewards. I didn’t rush it. I would take them into the bathroom whenever I had to go and that helped a lot
Patience and and a no pressure approach is my best potty training tip
We tried for months with my son and then finally and older child of 4 used the toilet and my son wanted so much to be like him he was trained that day!
What a wonderful experience! I love the ‘spot on’ answering, those answers are always the best!
When it comes to potty training, follow your child’s cues. They will let you know when they are ready to start.
Introduce potty training as early as you can
My tip is to introduce your baby to potty training early and to be patient!
I will be a new mom in November, so I don’t have any tips, but I’ve really enjoyed reading the ones posted!
Know your child and cater to their needs for success whether it is praise, incentives, more time, etc.
Be forgiving – on your child and yourself – when it ends up beside the potty rather than in the potty. Your little one isn’t doing anything to get on your nerves. And you aren’t a failure if your little one gets it wrong the first, second, or even fifth time.
Don’t react when your child has a mistake. Use lots of praise and compliments and avoid any negatives like ‘no, bad, don’t, etc’. Reward charts/ “I did it” also help for visual reminders so keeping them in an open area where they are able to see may help with reminders and prompting.
I let my son take off his own diaper he felt very included and grown up. After a bit I found his diaper on the floor and him on the potty all by himself
My potty training tip is to offer a reward if the child uses the potty such as Smarties or M&M’s. You could also make up a chart and place a sticker on it each time the potty is used. When the chart is full, offer the child a larger reward such as a new toy.
Potty Training tip: put the potty in front of the TV or give your little one a book or iPad to play with while sitting on it. It kept my son busy and he sat on it longer because he was entertained!
i use chocolate chips! it works wonders with my daughter!
When I potty trained both my boys I used a sticker chart, all kids love stickers, every time they did their business I would give them a sticker to put on that day, and if they did #2 they got two stickers, 🙂
worked real well!!
When I potty trained my son I was advised not to rush him and let him do it when he was ready. I did not listen and gave it a go and it did not work out well at all. I gave up and a few months later (asking him every once in a while if he wanted to use the potty) and finally he said yes. We used cheerios in the toilet for target practice! He thought that was cool and it gave him more incentive
don’t give up and have patience
tip would be when your child says ” mommy i have to go” don’t keep going with the conversation you will have to notice your child will have to go to the washroom
As for a potty training tip, I found that stripping their little bottoms when at home made a huge difference. This is best though when you have mostly hard wood or that sort of flooring. Than using Easy Up’s for going out of the house.
Awesome job! A great behind the scene look! Thanks.

How fun! Your family did a great job! Kudos!
How exciting! That’s an experience your family will always remember.
Forever!
You did great and what an opportunity to remember!
Nice to capture the bittersweet memories of your last baby growing up
What a great opportunity!
Haha about the lobster! That sounds like such an experience.
Did everyone have to be extra quiet, or did they want to film life as “normal”?
Life as normal, they really were going for a opportunity to capture us ah natural. With over 6 hrs of filming they cut it down to that.
You did great! We are struggling through our own potty training adventure
Every child is different that is what makes it more “fun” LOL Good Luck!
You guys did great, would love to know how other kids reacted to filming?
That is a great idea! The kids were super excited!
You did a great job and I love it. Your kids are troopers and what a great post and opportunity for you guys! Love this and they couldn’t have chosen a cuter family!
Oh Paula, your always too sweet! Thanks!
Great video .Potty training doesn’t have to be so stressful. You did a fab job.
Thanks!
Beautiful family, lovely story and happy ending.
Pampers has been there for us since the beginning as well with our 30-week old triplets.

Wow, these videos look so polished and impressive. My potty training tip is to just not stress too much about it. and be patient.
Ola Tammy,
Wow, you guys took a lot of great pictures that day!
It was a pleasure being there, meeting your beautiful family and tell your story.
Big hug from the whole team!
Paulo Salomao
Hi Paulo,
Thanks for the incredible adventure. Life is filled with moment’s that shine and this was one for our family. Your team was very professional and made the experience go smooth for us all. It was our pleasure to host you all in our home. So glad we took so many pictures, because it makes looking back easier.
Take Care,
The Mitchell family.
It looks really cool! My potty training tip is wait till the child is ready, don’t push for potty training because others said at such a time, they should be out of diaper. Every child is different. Once he/she is ready, it will make the whole process less stressful
What an awesome opportunity! My potty training tip is to have a “tickle trunk” of treats when you child makes a pee or pooh. This was the only thing that would work for my son.
Wow! I would be far too intimidated to do this! Way to go!
OMG! I would have been way too nervous to do this! You did an amazing job! So how does it feel to be a star? That will be so cool for your little guy to see when he’s older! Was your son scared of the cameras at all?
WOW, awesome job!! With our first baby on the way, we are definitely not at the potty training stage, but this was insightful, thank you!
Wow! What a production for a video. I think it turned out great and the kids did so well even with all the ‘new’ people around. Did you started training for night potty at the same time as day potty?
Enjoyable post. I don’t have any questions about potty training yet, as my daughter is too young. I’m hoping to teach her by example — since she doesn’t like me to be out of her sight for too long, when she sees that I need to go into the separate room to use the bathroom, hopefully she will want to do the same.
You did an AMAZING job!!!!! I loved watching your commercial. so so so so awesome!!!!
Thank you Shannon! It was so FUN!
You did soooo great, I would have been a nervous wreck! your family totally rocked this!
I was a wee bit nervous, but actually surprised myself a fair bit. However, talking about my kids is really easy to do 🙂
I have my boys their big boy underwear in advance of the real potty training so it warlike a goal to get it. They would play with it (both immediately put in on their heads- boy thing?) and I would tell the they could wear it when they used the potty. Seemed to work…
Wonderful job on the commercial! That is such a cool opportunity!
Super cool, eh? Plus a lot of fun! Thank you for your support!
My potty training tip is to introduce the potty early . And let them interact with it before the potty training begins.
You did a great job. loved your video
You did so well! lol I think I would have been a absolute bundle of nerves! Tips for Toilet Training? hmm In my opinion its really about training the adults who are doing the training lol
True true we need lot’s of Patience’s! Thanks for the compliments!
You did a great job! Loved your video.
Thanks Julia!
This is so awesome, Tammy! I love your Pampers story. 🙂
Thank you Christine!
