Staycation Road Trip #likenowhereelse
We take a lot of road trips, we are not shy about hoping in the car with a picnic packed and beautiful hike in mind, an hour or two away is no issue for us. How else can you keep the cost down with a big family well having a dream to travel together?
Niagara Falls, Ontario is like nowhere else to do just that. A few months ago we packed up our bags for a road trip to beautiful Niagara Falls a road trip we have done many times before. Only a few hours from Toronto and a short jot from our home town, it is a stay-cation like nowhere else. The best part you get all the budget friendly entertainment you need without opening up your wallet. Although it is a tourist town and you can get wheeled into all the glamour we have done it many times even before kids with our budget conscious mind open.
Explore The Beauty
Without opening your wallet you can keep the kids busy and learning by taking a closer look at the beauty with in the parks. Write up a scavenger hunt or Google for one. Discover Geocaching a family GPS hunt. Or let your little Squirrels roam the land and explore all on their own.
Every city and town has something new to offer the eyes of a child, dig deep and bring out your own inner child and discover the beauty in your own backyard. Something which seems as small as a bird to you, is a huge leap in excitement for a toddler. Our Little O got a kick out of watching these birds play as I took the chance to shoot some pictures of him. Well Little O and I were playing with the birds, daddy and the other kids were kicking around a soccer balls. Another memory in the making that didn’t cost us a dime.
Falls Avenue FREE Samples
After enjoying a little bit of energy burning fun well discovering the beauty Niagara Falls has to offer the kids were hungry and need a bit of a treat. Although my picnic bag was jam-packed with treats and drinks we opt to take a browse though the shoppes on Falls Avenue. The Hershey store, the Coke Cola store are a must stop, but with our big family keeping cost down is a must. We took advantage of the Free samples they hand out and everyone was thrilled to get a little taste of what the big stores have to offer. Don’t be shy, ask away they offer samples to all the tourist’s in town.
Well on Falls Avenue we took the opportunity to explore a little bit more. There are lot’s of hands on excitement for the little ones to enjoy, something for everyone to smile and get excited about.
Extreme Wonder In Our Own Backyard
Make sure you take a moment or two during your busy road trip to enjoy the extreme wonder that Niagara Falls is known for.
That is a scene I am still in awe over, an experience I can never get enough of. The best part it is only a short drive from many of our backyards, making the best Staycation Road Trip only a short drive away. Gas and family is all you need.
Happy Staycation Road Trip!

I have always wanted to go to Niagra, it’s on my bucket list of things to do. Your pics are priceless, and your munchkins are adorable. Glad you had a great time. We often forget about parks and nature when traveling, I love how you remind us the simplest things are best enjoyed everywhere! 🙂
I had a great time following your journey on IG, great post m’dere! 🙂 We have so many beauties in our backyard, huh?
Oh fun! I’ve never been to Niagara! Some day!
You guys look like you had a blast! I absolutely love staycations. My kids are good with staying in the car for long trips as well, but we have a family of four. I’d really like to take the kids to Niagara soon, we’ve been planing on it and it just hasn’t happened. I love how you guys found some samples. Definitely an added bonus when going on a trip, who doesn’t love samples?!
I love the photos of your family enjoying Niagara Falls! It really is a great place to visit. When we were at Great Wolf Lodge recently, we took a wrong turn and ended up on a road that continued beside the Falls. We had such a nice drive “off the beaten path”.
