Our Background

I have no religion history as a child, I never was taken to church once, I was never read any stories from the Bible nor was I taught or preached who God, Jesus, Mary were. My husband on the other hand came from a strong religious background, he grew up with a church family attend weekly and also was put through a Christian school. My amazing husband has taught me the basics of religion when I ask a question, but as a family just recently we have taken a bigger step to introducing our children ( and me ) to church and religion. For me personally I find it very hard to walk into a world I have no understanding of. Church has been hard for me to attend and grasp what is being taught, I almost feel blind with each sermon we attend. I can assure you I was craving the opportunity to learn more and grasp an understanding to help welcome Christianity into our lives.

Our  Review

We started this March watching “The Greatest Story Ever Told – THE BIBLE “ on the History channel, we missed a few episodes in the beginning and caught a few in the middle. The first episode we watched, I remember feeling very uncomfortable with the gore and sacrifices they made thousands of years. For me it was an introduction into the Bible that I didn’t know exist. I found myself watching from a peek in between my fingers, but at the same time I didn’t want to miss a scene. I was able to follow and grasp the greatest story ever told, the history, my attention has been caught, my interest to learn more has been sparked. My husband has really enjoyed re-hearing the stories he has heard through his childhood, remembering who, where and their piece of the story. It has also allowed him to visually see the scenes he had visioned in his mind.

I see a huge value in having “The Greatest Story Ever Told – THE BIBLE “ as a future reference to look back on in our media library . We have yet to complete all 10 hours of THE BIBLE, but I cannot wait to sit down again to continue. I would suggest you watch this with your partner and/or possibility your teenagers, but this is not a viewing for younger children that is when a Children’s Bible at bedtime should be used.
