CheeCha LogoSnack Time

With so many mouths to feed sometimes it seems like I am in the kitchen all day. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack, it seems endless most days. With a desire to keep whats goes in the mouths of our little ones yummy and healthy, it can be exhausting at times. I worry about making sure its healthy, not sugary, no red dyes, not too processed, but at the same time quick, easy and yummy too. It’s also far to easy for me to grab what the kids are snacking or eating and call it lunch…which in return is not sitting well on my hips these days.

” The kids cannot get enough of the cinnamon flavor, mama prefers the Crispy Dill Pickle, but really all the flavors are very yummy, another hit is the Mesquite BBQ. We have been snacking on CheeCha Puffs when a salty craving kicks in. 2 cup serving are less than 92 calories which means sitting down to eat a big bowl is guilt free. Which is satisfying too. “

Cadrin’s grandparents often traveled to parts of Mexico in the wintertime and introduced the grand-kids to cheecharones, wheat-based pellets that when deep-fried are very similar to pork rind. They would bring the snack back to Canada in pellet form and deep-fry them when the grand-kids came over.

Fast-forward to the mid-1990s and Cadrin’s mom is just finishing her MBA and is looking to start her own business. The Cadrins are a “foodie family” and her mom wants to launch a healthy snack. As she researches, she notices that the segment has very few options that are healthy and tasty.

That’s when she began looking at the cheecharones. “She took these pellets that [my grandparents] were deep-frying and tested a different cooking processes,” says Cadrin. “When she threw them in the hot-air popcorn popper…”
