Private School Memory with @ourkidsnet #OKSchoolMem
I was very excited to take part in Our Kids Private School Expo, not because I attended a private school, but because it would give me the opportunity to hear more about my husband’s experiences.
He was very blessed with the opportunity to attend a private school as a child with his 2 siblings; they attended all the way to grade 8. Some of the memories he has from private school was the close net family atmosphere that surrounded him, you really get the opportunity to get to know your class mates and teachers on a more intimate level when attending a private school. He talked a lot about the lower teacher to student ratio, which allowed him the opportunity to get a more customize learning lesson from his teachers. Not because he was behind, but because the teachers really got to learn from each student where they thrived and were weaker, allowing them to shuffle their teaching program to each student’s needs. When he attended high school in grade 9 he felt ahead of the rest of the students because so much time and focus was on him during those very important early years of life.
There is a small private school in our small town and we have tossed and turned the idea of sending our 4 children there. Education is very important in the early years of life; we want our kids to have the richest start possible. Although my raising in the public school board system was great, I don’t feel I got the most out of it. I don’t have the warm fuzzy memories he has to share.
We were very discouraged to inquire with the local private school, because we just cannot see how we could afford sending all 4 to private school. We recently learned from http://www.ourkids.net not only the rich can afford a private school; Our Kids debunks the myth here. Plus I just learned that there are all types of bursaries and scholarships available for students. Learning that makes me re-think the possibly again.
I’m participating in the Our Kids Private School Expo Blog Hop. Yesterday’s School Memories post can be found at AskMamaMoe. Tomorrow, the fun is happening at Little Miss Kate.
