  • Just saw this post! Birth Plans, I think, set us up for failure. Since when do babies follow plans?!

My birth plan changed for each.

BigKid was supposed to be hospital, with my mom as my “assistant” and I was supposed to be in and out of the place as fast as possible. He came really fast, my mom&dad didn’t get there in time, and I ended up hemmoraging, so had to stay overnight in hospital.

With Middle, we were going to go the hospital with my midwives, but he was born in my front hallway with Daddy catching him because he couldn’t wait~! (Still can’t haha).

With Little, decided to stay at home this time; I was going to stay in bed for the birth this time. Again, he was a fast baby, and Daddy caught him in the living room, where I was (unsuccessfully) trying to be quiet enough to not wake up the other 2. haha.

  • Gotta love birth plans! We had planned a home birth with our first and ended up with a c-section and a 9lb 11oz baby as well. She just wasn’t going to budge! Our second and third were booked c-sections. My second was in a “bubble” for the first 24 hours and our third was shipped off to Sick Kids after just a couple minutes of getting to hold him. My plans of holding and breastfeeding and bonding with my babes went down the drain. I think babies change the birth plan on purpose so that we, as parents, get used to having our plans changed by little munchkins. It’s preparation for what’s to come. …parents plan, children change that plan to meet their own needs. 🙂

    • Sherry great perspective! Children are always changing plans! I am so glad your little munchkins are healthy! You can relate to my BIG baby too! Enjoy your day! Thanks for reading! @inRdream

  • I too, had to forgo my original birth plan with my first child when a week before our due date, we found out she was breech and wasn’t moving anytime soon. I was so disappointed to schedule a c-section after I had mentally and emotionally prepared myself for a natural exit, only to face a longer recovery and larger war scars. And of course, it paved the way for the second when I was warned by my doc that a V-Bac was signing my life away–really? Fortunately, it all worked out and I’ve healed and had two beautiful and healthy babies, but it was certainly another life lesson in the fact that sometimes our plans have plans of their own. 🙂

    • I love when you look back and see the life lesson you may have not noticed you were given! Thanks for sharing your birth story! Did you read my Too Posh to Push article? Longer recovery and scars for sure! Thanks for stopping by! @inRdream

  • Fantastic article! A really enjoyable read!
