#SaveLives with @larocheposayca TODAY! { @PTPA }
It wasn’t till I was sitting here writing this post that I truly understood the effects the sun can have on your skin. I mean yes I have had sunburn’s before & even the kids have been a little red a time or two. I was never educated on the long term effects sunburn can have on your skin. It’s far more then the painful burn & peeling. This should be something that is taught in school, I am almost embarrassed to admit my ignorance towards the subject.
If you would have asked me yesterday afternoon if the kids & I had sunscreen on I may have said “ya this morning but we are OK now, we don’t burn easy!” To be honest I rarely re apply. Not because I think being tanned is a must for the summer, just because we don’t burn so I never thought we needed the protection, unless it was an extremely HOT sunny day!
Today after reading the stories on The Save Lives! Program featured on the La Roche-Posay Canada Facebook page I realized I am one of the statics ~ 43% of individuals only apply sunscreen when the sun is very intense.
Don’t be fool it can appear anywhere. After reading Jill’s story on The Save Lives! Program featured on the La Roche-Posay Canada Facebook page I learn it’s actually the cancer Bob Marley passed away from, the Melanoma he had was hidden between his toes.
I was touched by so many of the stories people are sharing on The Save Lives! Program such as Audrey who shares….
“Last summer I told my (now) step-daughter to get a mole checked out. It looked a bit “wonky”. This April she went to a specialist and had a mole removed… Melanoma! I am happy I was able to be there for her through her two surgeries (one to remove mole, and one to take more skin, 2- 3 cm around, DOWN TO THE MUSCLE). We are so thankful it hadn’t spread anywhere else.”
