Building Life Skills with Fire Pit Cooking!
It’s that time of year again, summer is here., the outdoor fun begins!
One of R favorite things to do as a family is cook on R fire pit. From breakfast to dessert nothing taste better then the smoke flavor from an old fashion fire.
We are doing more then just cooking good food, although that is happening too! We are creating life skills and building memories for R children to hold.
Don’t be afraid it’s very easy to do. Once the coals are HOT & RED, your ready to cook. Have everything you need on hand, salt, pepper, oil. You can cook most foods straight on the grill, such as your meats and veggies, for eggs and potatoes a good old fashion cast iron pan is the best for outdoor cooking.
ENJOY!
Have you cooked on a fire pit before?
Thank you for reading In R Dream!
Remember to know your cities guidelines and always have the hose on hand just in case. We try to make this a family fun, but kids should never be unsupervised around a fire.
I was a counsellor on a 36-day canoe trip in Quetico Park (northern-ish Ontario). We cooked over open fire and had a one-burner stove as a back-up. Thanks for the great memories.
I would do it at home here but we (technically) need a burn permit. And I always follow the rules…
