Learning about Maple Syrup..Mmmmmm
There is a wonderful bush that is somewhat local to us, it’s filled with Maple Trees. Each March they open there doors for what they call a Maple Syrup Festival. We have gone springs before, to watch the Maple Syrup flow, and of course leave with a fresh bottle for R pancakes at home.
This year the buckets were empty?
Of course we asked…”Why is there no sap in the buckets?”
To R surprise and something we never thought of it’s been too warm. It was a short and quick season for Maple Syrup Farms. Once the buds on the trees start to show, the SAP gets very bitter and the season is done. This year they actually were shipping in Syrup to meet demands.
Long ago this was the way the buckets of SAP were carried back to boil.
This is the way they use to boil the SAP!
Next time you DRIZZLE your pancake with Maple Syrup you can share this with the kids!
DID YOU KNOW?
Thank you for reading In R Dream!
We were there last year! Great experience. I was wondering how the weather was going to affect the sap this year – interesting!
