Family Break @McD_Canada, turns #CBias Mission #EqualCanada Impossible

Once a week R daughter goes to Sparks and we like to take the boys out for a little outing. Sometime I take just one (of 3 boys) to the mall for a walk, to the books store, or my husband and I take them to our local @McD_Canada to play or just enjoy an ice cream.  I must say McDonald’s is always at the top of their list, and to be honest mine too! Either it’s the Sundaes for a nice treat, or a warm drink! I enjoy letting the kids burn some energy well my hubby and I catch up on our busy days.
I have tried all of their new Mc Cafes, using all but one of the coupons they just circulated. We have yet gotten out the door to have a breakfast there (which is the last coupon I still have.) I must add, my least favourite is the new hot chocolate. I am a big fan of all things Chocolate, but to me this new twist tastes more like steamed milk then hot chocolate. When I ask for Hot Chocolate I expect, rich, creamy, very distinctive chocolate flavour. There is just not enough Chocolate there for me. But there coffee has my attention. It’s winning top pick in our family. I like 2 creams 1 sugar. Well now that we are on the topic of sugar! I know I should be switching for many reasons. So this past Wednesday, we took the 3 boys to McDonald’s after dropping our daughter off at Sparks. And I wanted to give Equal a try this time!
With #EqualCanada on my mind, I ordered, requesting Equal sweeter. The server said “we only carry one kind and its the (Light Coloured) one” As I sighed in disappointment, I asked for a comment card, he suggested I speak with the manager. The Manager was extremely busy, orders in his hands and keeping this staff running smooth during rush hour. He nodded a polite yes and 10 seconds later was greeting me with a smile. My first Impression was WOW; he was just running busy and was so promoted and happy to serve me. I was very impressed, having been in his shoes before in retail, I know complaints are a huge part of a manager’s day and he was happy to take mine on! I told him I would be happy if they carried Equal as an option for their customers and that I would like to fill out a comment card to satisfy my interest in Equal. He showed me the back my receipt and suggested I go on-line to voice my opinion. He told me to enjoy my day, smiled and he jumped right back to the line!
I happily stood there watching our server who took my food order, worked the cash and now is making my coffee. That didn’t bother me, I understand time is money and you cannot be standing around. What bothered me was the lids were stacked upside down. When he grabbed a lid for my coffee (with his dirty money hands) he grabbed the inside of the lid. Which means those dirty money hands just touched the inside of the lid, in which went on top of my hot drink!
OK, anyone who knows my husband and I knows germs, door handles and money have us reaching for sanitizer. We took our order and sat down; the kids were getting over a little cold so we just were going to enjoy some Ice cream and chats tonight.

During our visit the staff, sweep, sprayed down the tables, emptied the garbage, and organized the drink counter. I was very pleased with how well they all worked keeping it clean and welcoming for their customers.

Besides chatting about our day, and a few silly’s. We talked about #EqualCanada and our Mission Impossible with #CBias. We also talked about importance in offering your customers options. We both believe and prefer having options, when putting something into our mouths. Also, of course how honored and exciting it is working with #CBias on our mission.
Just as the manager recommended I went home and signed on to @McD_Canada website and filled out the survey. (Please note you need your receipt to do this!) I suggested that Equal be carried, as well as I addressed my issue with the upside down lids. As I am typing this I do recognize that although I told them the service was great! I didn’t comment on how well the staff kept the dining room clean. It’s always nice to acknowledge both the positive and negative in life. Next time I will be sure to send them a positive comment!

  • Oh, that’s just wrong! I have had a few experiences too! Everyone says if it’s going to happen its to me or in front of me. Like finding a hair in my fries and them throwing the whole bunch back in the deep fryer! Yes hair and all! YUCK! Or the fly whose last minutes where in my salad. YIKE!

  • Yikes, I recently had a similar experience when the cashier spilled my fries and then proceeded to pick them all up with his hands, stuff them into the container and pass them to me. NOT COOL, DUDE!! I refused them and asked for another batch, that wasn’t touched by someone who hadn’t handled money.
