Is Your Back Up?

There is one topic over the years I have noticed that will get most couples in a heated in conversation. No matter how much you’re on the same page, it can add stress to the best of couples. We definitely have had our ups and downs as a couple when it comes to money but our end result always leaves us agreeing (even if our backs were up during some point of the conversation).

Analyzing Our Spending

Recently, my hubby analyzed our spending by exporting our bank statements into an excel sheet and sorting the last year. It was actually mind dropping to see where we spent our money. I will be honest food and dining out was the bulk of our over spending. When it comes to food my cupboards are jam-packed with goodness, they always have been. I can easily drop $900+ a month on groceries and still enjoy sushi once a week. By analyzed our spending I seen where I can pull back and save a little. It was a back up moment for me because I feel like I am doing what I need to for my family but at the same time I wasn’t clipping coupons or price matching.

Clipping Savings

Our recent budget is active just in time for Christmas. Most people shy away from starting a budget before Christmas but to be honest by putting new practices into place before Christmas I can be saving money to be able to effort Christmas. We have a no credit card rule at Christmas time and it if takes clipping coupons from sites like www.savingmadesimple.ca or watching my flyers for P&G brandSAVER then that is what I will do to keep an active balance growing.

Use Your Common Cents Day

All joking aside using your common cents is really the start of a wealthy financial journey. I plan on being 100% more mindful in my spending, clipping coupons and price matching with apps like Fipp where I can.

Timing is prefect because P&G is launching Use Your Common Cents Day to educate us Canadians on saving made simple. I am honoured to be moderating P&G’s upcoming Twitter party is to get Canadians on board with budgeting. Join your host: @Jen_Banks along with your moderators:  @inRdream (ME) & @my3lilkittens on November 4th @ 12pm (noon) EST.

Where we will share helpful tips and tricks on how you can use your common sense when it comes to budgeting. During the party we will also be talking about the Basics line of products that P&G released earlier this year. I am a firm believer that spending your money on quality products that you know work and trust, will save you money in the end.
